The benefits of terracing

Now that the winter floods have subsided, action can be taken to prevent future flooding. I would suggest terracing on the hills and mountainsides. Terracing has many benefits apart from preventing flooding. For example, it turns marginal grazing ground for sheep into premium land suitable for crops and horticulture. It prevents soil erosion and improves water quality in streams and rivers.

Terracing can be done anywhere but it tends to catch on in countries that have either too much rain or too little.
