Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shorten patio heater, adjustable perhaps

    Hi,

    I was considering shortening the height of my patio heater. It's really suitable for standing underneath, but when sitting, the heat is just too far away.

    I could just cut it to size, but I was hoping people could come up with an option to make it adjustable?

    It has a steel upright pole that is welded at the bottom, but bolted to the gas burner at the top.

    Find a pipe that has slightly larger ID than the pole's OD, chop pole, add section of pipe as sleeve, insert shortened section in to top.

    Presumably there's a hose carrying the gas that will need to be shortened or corkscrewed to work.

    Obvs your idea is dangerous because there will be a hot disc at eye level, but I assume you're OK with the odd trip to A&E. :pac:

    You're right about the hot disc. I'm still considering that part of it. I certainly wouldnt fancy hitting my head of it. .. maybe some sort of chicken wire frame branching out...

    PVC coated weldmesh might do it, if bent around to avoid sharp bits. But then the plastic might melt. :D
