Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Caseys in Downing is nice with access to lovely beach also close to hotel, pub, restaurant and shop. You take turn for Milford at 2nd roundabout approaching Letterkenny and continue to Milford and on to Downings its about 25 miles from Letterkenny.
There is a nice site called Lakeside C&C Centre off the main road (bypass) between Ballyshannon and Bundoran its signposted, as name suggests it is beside lake with boats and pub restaurant on site also nice walks, and only a couple miles from Bundoran with beach, waterworld, hotels pubs shops restaurants and amusements or a few miles from ballyshannon is Rosnowlagh, a much quieter village but with beautiful beach.

Like all spots good weather helps but Keel in Achill is a lovely spot to park the camper for a few days. surf the beach, climb the mountains, windsurf the lake or just relax in any one of the locals... just inspired myself to head again!

+1, a truly amazing part of Ireland. I go there every year, never tire of the place.

Can anyone recommend some wild camping in Wexford?

    There's a thread here:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055311498
about wild camping that mentions Baginbun Head. I am between 2 minds about that - it used to be my childhood favourite beach(es) and we used to get annoyed if ANYONE else trespassed on "our" beach........:)

Interesting site here with camping sites:
    http://www.reisverhaleneuropa.nl/campings/campingsierland/CampingsIerland_uk.htm

    and wild camping:

    http://www.reisverhaleneuropa.nl/camper/ierland/plaatsen.htm

It's almost all in Dutch (there is an "English" flag/button now and then) and there's not a huge amount of information, but worth a gander nonetheless.

I love the Burren area in Clare. There is a large camp/caravan site on the beach with a little river/stream running through it.No fancy facilities though, just shower rooms and washing machines.
Great for kids(nowhere to spend money unless you go to Doolin or Lahinch)and if you have a dog he will love it.
Just down the road fom O'Donohoes pub in Fanore on the coast between Lisdoonvarna and Ballyvaughan.

    There are so many.
Gurteen Bay - Its just fantastic. About 3 miles west of Roundstone Village in Conamara (40mins from galway). It has the most amazing beach. If its sunny you can keep the med. Been there about 4 times this summer. The water is the clearest I've ever seen in the country and is great for swimming and snorkeling. Lifeguard is there during the summer. The bay is a big hit for windsurfers, kite surfers and sailing no matter what the weather. You can sit and watch these guys and girls for hours. Its hard to get a front site but it has some sheltered spots. Showers are like standing under a power hose and there is always loo roll in the toilets.

Rosses Point - again very clean and a great beach for swimming, windsurfing and kite surfing. Sligo seems to have a massive boy racer community who like to drive about late with their muffelers but the Guards are usually close behind them. The other draw back it the wild campers parking on the road right in between you and your sea view and under the no overnight parking signs! It can be annoying. But again the garda do their best to stop them.

Hi all, just as a follow up headed down to Baginbun Head and had a cracking time down there, nearly blown out of it on the Saturday night but nothing we couldn't handle. Something about bedding down for the night to the sound of the wind.

Anyway, thinking of headed out again, does anyone know of any good wild camping spots around Lough Derg, Lough Derg on the Shanon that is not the one in Donegal. Thanks

Great Thread, I am hoping to get out and do come camping with the kids this summer FX the weather stay good or just not rain every day.

Im keen on them learning about wild camping and learning to clean up etc we do a fair bit of hill walking and forest walking with them

I was wondering has any one ever wild camped around Raven wood and curracloe beach in wexford or does it be full of wild teens at the weekend

I have been looking at camp sites as well some are quite expensive and we are on a strict budget!

any one ever camped there or know of other good spots we will have a tent and 4 kids!

Went camping here with children a couple of weekends ago and found it a very nice place. Owners and staff were friendly. A small shop and also a small (seasonal) chipper as you enter and another just outside the site. There's also a bus service to the local pub.

A good mixture of tents, caravans and motorhomes. Some of the caravans seemed to be there for more than a week (seasonal?). Electricity and water available at all pitches. Very family friendly with many of the people staying regular visitors. Showers are token operated (€1) but close at 9pm. Lots of rules and regulations to keep people in order, but relaxed atmosphere and as long as kids/teenagers weren't a nuisance then there wasn't a problem. Situated the other side of the dunes from a fabulous beech and you could hear the sea breaking from your bed/bunk. Price is reasonable.

The only negative was the condition of the toilets which could do with a refurb. But for a safe and child friendly location, we'll return.

I was there in 1980 (really!!). I hear it is still a great place.. walking distance to the sea and has it's own club. Glengarrif a short drive or long walk.

Don't try wild camping in Kilmore Quay - heard they had major hassle there this weekend :-(

Wild camped there 2 weeks ago and no p-roblems 2 others m/hs there also hate paying greedy campsite owners stayed in 2 in wales this year only £11 for full facilities here nearly all are €20 plus and are robbing the tourists.
Now someone is going to say it cost a lot to set them up but most are well paid for over the years and maintenance is minimal so bring down your prices owners and you will get more business.

If there lowerd thier prices and were more AIRES here then you would get many more contental visitors here who would spend 2/3 days wild camping or on AIRES then go to a camp site to clean up and stock up.

In the end they'd get more buisness not less

Just back from a few day's away in the moterhome,we had the 2 kids 2 and 4 years with us, we went to Killarney first stayed in Flesk camping site very clean, no playground for the kids but it was next to the Glenn Eagle hotel so we used the pool at a discount from the park.Took a taxi into Killarney which was 7euro but we went on the horse cart around the lakes and got dropped back at the park 35e:eek:but was worth it:DWe went to Tralee after there stayed in the woodlands park highly recomend it, 15min walk into Tralee cinema next door and the aqua dome, then went down to Skibbereen the hideaway camping park lovely park but very much a click there, stayed 1 night. We then went down to Kinsale to Garrettstown house holiday park and stayed 2 nights, they have the playground, kidsclubs, kids disco, cinema night, fancy dress really great for the kids plus its only a 15min walk down to Garrettstown beach highly recommend this place this was our second time back there:D Great time had by all looking forward to the next trip;)

My all time favourite would have to be Acton's Beachside Caravan and Camping Eco Park located just outside Clifden Connemara. We stayed there in April with the kids for a week when the weather was great then.
The owners operate the site on the principles of sustainable tourism and they do a great job. No overcrowding on this ecological site, everyone has their own private plot with direct access to a beautiful private sandy beach, just meters away. Lots to do on site fishing, swimming & a great walks to Omey Island, really great.Going back again for more when the weather picks up.Looking forward to that camp fire.

One place we all loved was Chlerie Haven http://www.yurt-holidays-ireland.com/ based on Cape clear Island in Cork. you could bring your own Tent or book a tipi or yurt, we stayed in one of the yurts and it had every thing you need, Sally and Dave were very welcoming and helpful.
There is loads of lovely walks around the island, down at the pier were you get off the ferry is were you find all the kids playing in the water. suppervalue on the mainland will deliver out to you saving you hauling your food for the few days over with you.
    Dogs are allowed.

if you are in to loads of walking and sight seeing then its worth a visit.
