"War Machine" gets 1 year prison sentence

According to CagePotato.com, the fighter formerly employed by the UFC and formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver was sentenced today for his role in a night club brawl dating back to this March. Now known legally as War Machine, the former The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra cast member has received a one year stint in jail followed by three years of probation. During his hearing, War Machine attoned for his past mistakes and pledged to reform his behavior.
"I've made some stupid mistakes in my life," said War Machine. "I'm not a bad person. I've tried the hard way my whole life. It's not working. I'm done with that."
Deputy District Attorney Michael Runyon told NBC San Diego after the court case that Machine would be best served by sticking to his word as the judge is unlikely to cut him any slack.
"Judge Danielsen made it very clear ... one error, one misstep, one violation, he's headed to state prison," Runyon said.
For his part, the judge has made things easier for War Machine by lessening his sentence from one served in state prison to one served in county jail. That said, he still maintains that if War Machine slips up the hammer will drop down hard.
"You understand we're not fooling around," the judge told him. "I think we'll find out who the real guy is."
War Machine holds an 11-4 record as a professional mixed martial artist. He fought twice for the UFC before being released due to making disparaging comments about former UFC Middleweight Champion Evan Tanner's untimely death. He last appeared in action against John Alessio on a July Tachi Palace Fights card; he lost that bout via rear naked choke in the third round.
