Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whittaker's round, Yoel is gassing here or at the very least taking a round off. He looks petrified at times too.

It's effecting his movement. No question. But he is still in there. He actually won the third round handily.

    Go Robert!!!

    Romero compltely gassed.

    2:2 for me.

Just win this last one, possibly doesn't even need to finish him.

    Whittaker is a savage

    4-1 Whittaker.

As I said, Yoel is overrated. 5 minute fighter. Couldn't even beat a one legged injured opponent. Flashbacks to Haye vs Bellew. Embarrassing not to be able to finish a guy on one leg.

Judges on crack tonight so Yoel unanimous

Brillaint stuff. Not the fireworks of last night's main event, like a chess match. Think Whitaker has it.

If anyone seriously thinks thats a clear Whittaker win get your eyes tested, very close fight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭kwestfan08

48-47 to Bobby Knuckles for me. Very close fight though.

How is it not? The first round is a pick'um but Yoel threw about 5 shots in in rounds 3, 4 and 5. He lost all three convincingly.

4th and 5th were close enough, whittaker tinted glasses to think he won them 3 rounds easily he was nearly as gassed in the 5th, great fight and fancy both to beat Bisping shame its not Romero.

ragin - put 50 bob on yoel after rd 2 :D

Romero walked him down, that was a slip not a td but the top pressure shaded it just for Whittaker but nothing like people are claiming.

HAHA, Bisping is so cringe, trying to hype it upppp :-)

Whittaker is a very likeable guy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,165 ✭✭✭Savage Tyrant

Bisping is an idiot. He disrespected his own title instead of Whittakers. He's a cringeworthy gob****e if ever there was one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,507 ✭✭✭tinpib

Great main event but that was a Murphy's Law of a PPV. Some stinkers in there unfrt.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

His money fight is gone anyways thats a bonus no GSP fight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,161 ✭✭✭Amazingfun

Ah, Bisping is just trying to play the hypetrain game, I can't hate on him. He's just not good at it, lol.

In the 5th Whittaker outlanded him in volume, hurt him AND got the top pressure.

It was the easiest fight in history to score. Romero won the first 2 rounds, Whittaker won the last 3 rounds.

Extremely clear victory. By definition 3 rounds to 2 is a close fight but it was crystal clear who won.

Dont speak spanish so dont know if the Corner said it but why didnt he leg kicks Whittaker more when it was obvious he was having trouble with it.

Yeah I agree even as a Romero fanboy :(

After rounds 1/2 I was sure Romero would be able to at least pick up one more round against an opponent with one leg..... I am happy for Whitaker anyway, the guy is a gentleman and he deserves a shot at the title.

I had Romero winning the 5th till the last minute, does 1 minute of top pressure on the ground beat 4 minutes of being walked down? debatable for me can easily see why you'd give it to Robert but not crystal clear imo.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

Dangerous to write Bisping off but anyone else think Whittaker beats him everywhere? similar enough fighters Robert is the younger lion I feel.

Walked down? Do you get points now for "effective walking"? You can't walk somebody down if you dont throw any punches.....which Yoel didn't. Yoel got out struck severely in 3,4 and 5 by virtue of the fact that he threw hardly anything.

Yeah actually you do its called octagon control so its part of the scoring criteria.

And it's the last criteria the judges go to and only when everything else is equal....as you well know. And "walking" is not octogon control. You know that too. At least you should.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 7,269 ✭✭✭Gamebred

As you well know or should number of strikes landed is not safe to presume who wins a round or was winning in this case, you could land 10 punches to my 1 that drops you who wins that so in your opinion? I never said Yoel was running away with the 5th either I had him edging it its all academic anyways because the minute or 2 swayed it on top position.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,161 ✭✭✭Amazingfun

Ouch: Dana disses Nunes again in the after-show, says he won't "main event" this title again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

Yes he will. He said the EXACT same thing about DC v Jones. "Jones will have to fight somebody else before DC to prove he can show up before I'll put him in the main event again."

Yet, look. Thats the main event next up. It's just Dana blowing hot air. He said similar when Khabib had his tiramisu meltdown and yet now the UFC are providing him nutrionist help and him and Tony is happening again.
