Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I love Mike Oldfield but am not aware of that album, must give it a listen.

My Dad was a big Mike Oldfield fan back in the day and we always listened to his albums when dragging a caravan around Ireland on family holidays. Brings back great memories and I think a lot of the music still stands up well.

It is fairly abstract in parts, but it is one of my favourites. Has a great leaning to both Spanish and Irish Trad music, almost Galician. It is really good.

    Anti Flag - 20/20 Vision
Or to be more accurate, 20/20 di-vision as its the expanded edition.
It is very apt for the year that's in it.

A masterpiece. "The Things I Tell You" is my particular favourite.

The last album I listened to in full was David Bowie - Metrobolist. Tony Visconti's latest remix project for Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World".

Not impressed with this at all. Everything except the guitars have been narrowed, no stereo width at all to the drums except for the original title track where they have been brought more to the front. In doing that you can clearly hear why they were buried in the original mix as there are some awkward and sloppy sounding fills from Woodmansey, no disrespect to him as he was a decent drummer.

Visconti's previous remixes for Lodger, Space Oddity and Stage have been okay, but this one doesn't work at all, for me.

Continuing the Top 100 albums theme is Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life, which arrived last week. My only experience of his prior to this was owning the Definitive Collection. I can see why this is regarded so highly, it's fantastic. So 70s, so groovy and funky but so easy to listen to.

Do yourself a favour and get your hands on Innervisions and Fulfillingness' First Finale if you plan on getting any other Stevie Wonder albums. Talking Book and Music of my Mind are also worth a listen.

Today I'm listening to the Anna Mieke album - Idle Minds.

I saw her on Other Voices a few weeks backs and was really impressed. This album is a lovely listen with some very nice moments in it. The titular track is probably the stand out one for me.

The last album I listened to (just a couple of hours ago) was Zooropa by U2. With nothing to prove after Achtung Baby, it's their most purely creative album.

I can't listen to Tart Tart at the original speed ever since I saw the Twenty Four Hour Party People movie. It's the same pitch, but much faster and I loved it.

The lyrics on the whole album are class, they are just so random. They are so raw... and real.

"Johnny came up to the lock up .....and he made a shock announcement"

    They're class.

" the harder it gets the harder you like it"

It is a borderline masterpiece, it is astonishing it doesn't get better recognition, for the bass lines alone.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor's latest offering, Songs From The Kitchen Disco.

On repeat in the car, really really good.
She does a great cover of Blue Order's True Faith.
