Alison.com waste of time??

    The certs and "diplomas" aren't accredited by any institution, courses can be completed within hours and the "assessments" are simple. Then you purchase your cert or diploma. Seems like a very clever idea by the creator, false hope for people who then happily send off cash for a diploma not recognised by anyone at all :rolleyes:

    I done a few of their courses to see what they're like, but didnt purchase any of the certs. Seems pointless if I'm honest.

    Anyone have any experience with these too? They seem almost as worthless as the paper they're printed on if you put them on a CV to be honest, with potential employers dumbfounded by who they are and colleges that won't recognise the certs or "diplomas".

    Although I've started their Business Management & Entrepreneurship Diploma, its very good so far and very in depth and informative. And is a long course (by their standards).

    Just such a pity the Diploma won't count for anything at the end. A shame really.
    If they charged even €50 for the course and it was accredited by an institution it would make it so much worthwhile for the people doing these courses, and give them something real.

    Anyone do any of the Diploma's and what's the situation once you've completed it is it recognised ANYWHERE BY ANYONE ?!!?!

    The long answer:

    Alison is a UK Organisation based in Glasgow ( 26 Circus Drive, Glasgow G31 2JH, United Kingdom).

    As Alison is not part of the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) the courses offered have no academic value whatsoever. (But that should not surprise you if you have done any of the courses!)

    Neither is Alison accredited for education below acadamic level as is done by The National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

    The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) contains vocational (or work-related) qualifications, available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They have a Register of Regulated Qualifications in which Alison is not registered.

    My advice is to take a sensible approach. If what you want is a stamp on your CV then go to an approved college for Certification. But Allison.com provides an excellent source for additional training that will help in your work or daily life. IT's FREE and will give you the base to decide on whether to get a more formal base. One WARNING: it requires self discipline so don't waste your time if you're not interested in going all the way with it.
