Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sold out 2 nights in VIcar St in May 2017. That's 3k tickets.

Went to both, 2 top nights. Prob best suited to a venue like there than a big field though perhaps.

I saw them in a big field at Reading in 2000. And they were spectacular so it'll be fine.

I wonder was the success of Metallica at slane the reason for this sudden resurgence

It wouldn't have put them off that's for sure.

I'm looking at that HF lineup and it's ridiculous. Even if they were to add a few more of the lower order acts from it like Suicidal Tendencies/Bodycount this could be really good.

I'm delighted with Deftones and FNM and I live nearby so happy days! Saw Deftones in Vicar St. in 2017 and thought they were excellent.

Tool and SOAD would be something though. We live in hope.

They're not going to add any more headliners lads

Even some mid range bands like Opeth, Bodycount etc would be enough.

When was that? I didn't know they'd played here since the SFX

2004/5? In far distant memories at this point!

Have citywest hotel booked for the 2 nights (and a separate booking for Sat only). So hoping for maybe a drop off point at the red cow Luas stop

There is a 24 hour bus that goes from Naas to the airport and stops at the Red Cow luas stop, its only €5 each way or €3 each way if you are a student.

I was gonna go to Download in the UK next year which is the same weekend. But switching plans and going to this. I hope this sells out. We need a decent yearly rock festival in Ireland.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 15,134 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

I kinda hope they have some post music activities going on after the music etc, or it would be cool to have a few bands playing one of the stages on the Friday after people have arrived(similar to what Ramblin Man festival do, think they had the Darkness headline the friday)

Apparently I'm going to some doom festival in Portugal in the summer so won't be going to this. Nice to see it happening though. A big Irish festival and there won't be a Walking on the coronas type **** in sight.

You probably mean Boom! festival, its one of the best psytrance ones out there.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

A couple of days ago it was on their site that early bird day tickets would be €69.50, regular price €79.50. But yesterday they took it down so it looks like they're hoping to shift the weekend tickets during the early bird. I'd be fairly certain that the day tickets will go on sale at some point.

Considering the links to the original festival and the fact they are in Europe, RHCP could be an option for this also

Not on the same night as FNM, anyway! Keidis and Patton have a longstanding 'thing' :p

Maybe the main stage will be where the 2nd stage was at Oxegen? They might use the indoor shed (that was used for the dance arena) for the 2nd stage and maybe a tent for the 3rd stage?

Got ahead of myself and thought early bird was today. Hoping for another few additions of interest. From this post, I'd love to see BABYMETAL, Mastodon, and Offspring make the journey over.

Also to bump up my own interest I'd really like to see Billy Talent (Academy show was great), A Day to Remember (never seen), and Fever 333 (saw .letlive and the frontman is great live; they're doing dates in Germany in August but otherwise no plans).

    🤪

I wish it was a one dayer though.

That was one of the deadly things about the previous sunstrokes.

Party after, home in your own bed in the morning, with a very hazey recollection of the night before.

Not gonna camp, plan is for wifey to drop us off in Naas at around midday and then pick us up at midnight from naas..

Own bed, shower, gaff, too long in the tooth for that camping shite now

FNM announced their own gigs in Glasgow , Manchester and London. Might consider going over rather than going to Sunstroke to see them.

The line-up isn't that appealing to me outside the two headliners.

So, it turns out that you have to buy a weekend camping ticket and a separate campervan ticket. The weekend camping ticket is €170...and the campervan ticket is another €80...!? WTF?! Campervan owners clean up after themselves and don't leave tents and ****e behind. Ridiculous pricing.
