Need proof of funds for PR while working on IEC?

When applying for Permanent Residency through the Skilled Workers Express Entry stream you must have $12300 CAD to prove you can support yourself, however it also states:
you do not need to show these funds if you are currently authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer.

I would be emigrating to Canada on a 2 year IEC WHV and working as a Software Engineer which falls under one of the LMIA exempt NOC 0/A/B categories, according to this page a SW Eng has the NOC code 2173: http://noc.esdc.gc.ca/English/noc/Profile.aspx?val=2&val1=2173&ver=11

And if you enter 2173 to the search here it's listed as a skill level of A:
    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp

So I'm just wondering if that means that if I applied for PR while working on the IEC as a SW Eng in Canada that I would not be required to have the lump sum?

Has anyone else done something similar?

Yes you need proof of funds unless you get one year of Canadian experience before applying for PR or are employed under LMIA.

For anyone else who stumbles on this thread with a similar question and just to back up what circular flexing said above:

If you're on an IEC WHV and you get one year of experience then you can apply for PR under the Express Entry Canadian Experience Class which does not require proof of funds, the requirements are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/cec/class.asp

Also it seems like PR applications are taking ~6 months to process so if you find your IEC WHV about to expire before getting PR you can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit during the last 4 months of your IEC WHV: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/permit/extend/permanent.asp
