Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I had the misfortune also, no reason to take that photo in the first place let alone share it on social media. People need to take a good hard look at themselves.
    She's tweeted it herself.

Men's TT on Eurosport from 1:20pm for anyone interested

Watching the TT now, I reckon Dygert's got this one.

I know we don't have much chance at most races in the WC most years but CI really annoy me by not even trying. The whole set up seems a bit of a joke when it comes to the worlds and even when we have guys that are favourites we do nothing

Only a top form Dan Martin has a hope of winning this one, with a very long shot on Dunbar.

I agree I don't think we have any favourites this year or most years but all the more reason to just go for a long shot. Most years the team just sit in the peleton waiting for nothing and the only time I can remember us in a break was Conor and he done that of his own accord.

Its probably cost but when you see some obscure nations with a team of 1 or 2 at the worlds in both mens and womens you wonder why we cant send a team even if its a mix of our WT riders with riders all the way down to the best domestic riders. Must be a few pissed of pro conti guys or guys racing the domestic scene who could have filled the 2 slots available and then Dans slot. And we havent exactly covered ourselves in glory with the few WT riders we have at the worlds the last few years

I understand when it's in another continent and I'll excuse this year because of Covid but even CI can surely afford to send full teams to European destinations and I'm pretty sure we left empty spaces for Yorkshire

You forgot about Brammeier in 2010 nearly created the greatest upset in World Championship history when he was in a 5 man breakaway that almost lapped the entire field on the finishing circuit. If they had succeeded the rest of the peloton would have to have been pulled out.

IIRC all subsequent WC courses had to have longer finishing circuits as a result

Nico on the road now and Ryan Mullen off at 2:27.

Jeez, Michael Hutchinson is painful to listen to! Really a very negative commentary all along, but particularly venomous towards Nico all through his ride.
He comes across as very bitter.

I don't remember him much what's he bitter about?
Or have I just answered my own question

    Mullen way off the pace.

Ya saw that. Getting kinda worried about him and can't see him staying at a WT team unless he just gives himself over full time to being a workhorse

he has a pretty dry sense of humour, and is quite knowledgeable when it comes to TTs. He was multiple UK national champ over different disciplines.

Chances of a complete podium for Ineos?

Anyone bar Thomas, don't know why but I just cannot take to him.
Not over yet but expected dumoulin to really challenge but hope van Aert wins it as I can't see any of the Irish boys doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,121 ✭✭✭mr spuckler

And now Van Aert up on Thomas on the real time...

I heard him say before he was uk & Irish national TT champ at the same time. Whatever way the nationals worked out the UK nationals were in the north the day before the Irish nationals.

Is that possible? I assumed you could only ride for your registered association

He won the Irish title in 2012, 2013 and 2104

He won the GB title in 2002, 2004 and 2008

So it looks like he's telling a tale (and switched nations somewhere around 2010/2011)

How long has he left at Trek? He hasn't really done anything since he joined them and could see him drifting down to a lower level team to become forgotten about over the next few years

Not really given there's a lot few big names not riding. For a specialist to finish just 30 seconds ahead of Roche, a fairly mediocre time-triallist with a Tour in his legs, that's pretty bad. He'll be nervous about getting a decent contract next year.

The TT scene in the UK is slightly different and he is probably referring to being CTT National Champion (Non-UCI) and not British Cycling National Champion.

So technically not lying as he was UK CTT champion in 2012 at 10, 25 and 50 mile as well as being Cycling Ireland TT Winner

All may be true, but it was about what I expected from him so that's why I said respectable

He's had a poor year. Don't think he's even finished inside the top 30 on any ITTs he's raced on the circuit

He was very lucky to get any contract for this year, be amazed if he get's a WT contract next year.

Because the season has the teams are so stretched now, I think any rider who doesn’t get into any of the grand tour teams for this year is probably not going to get a deal next year (injuries aside obviously)

EDIT: just saw he has a deal with Trek until the end of 2021. Let’s hope he has a bumper year so...

Mullen has only ever done one GT and that was the Giro in 2018. Outside of the ITT he's always been a man for the break and work for the team. He's looked good in the classics earlier in the year working on the front and trying to split the group for his leaders.

I definitely think is focus on the ITT is gone and is probably not working on it nearly as much as he did in his Cannondale days.

Seeing it again I think it's like you say re: the tub, front end was twitching like mad. The good thing though if that can be said was the fact the car and moto were right there with her and saw her go over so help was on hand right away.

The accident was confirmed by her team to be solely down to rider error and no puncture or other mechanical issue was involved. She stayed in the TT skis and lost control in the high speed bend causing a speed wobble.
