Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Self Employed Social Welfare and Co Habiting in Parents

    Hey Guys,

Have been self employed for 10 years making good money paying my taxes and renting, my self and my girlfriend decided to move to my parents to save for a mortgage 2 years ago and you guessed it...i have had the worst two years of business yet! not making near enough money to even get by let alone save!

So i am looking at a career change but in order to facilitate this I'll need to go on social welfare for a while! I have already applied and was pretty much turned down because myself and herself are co habiting and she makes 600e a week after tax!.. My earnings were accepted as being too low and I was actually going to have my claim accepted until I mentioned my girlfriend.

I am wondering is there any way around this with Social Welfare without lying?

    Thanks.

You have income from self employment and your partner has €650+ gross less PRSI and you’ve no kids so there is no SW payment that you are entitled to.
