Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Unusual contract situation, eligible for jobseekers?

    My brother is on an unusual contract, almost like an indefinite fixed term. Anyway it's up soon and for a whole lot of reasons (health and others) he won't be taking another one. He should pick up other work pretty quickly but if he doesn't, can he sign on? Working full time for past decade so should have "stamps". The question really is, does not taking up a new (offered) contract count against you in the same way as leaving your job?

    if hes offered a new contract and doesnt take it this is seen as refusing work and he will be subject to up to 9 weeks wait time before he will be able to get jsb/jsa

    Thanks. Feared as much. He really can't take a new contract, a breakdown would be almost inevitable, don't know how he's stuck this contract out to be honest.

    if a breakdown is "almost inevitable", perhaps a visit to the doctor is in order. for a genuine case, he should seek sick leave.
