Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rabies vaccination and European travel

We're getting our pup vaccinated for rabies in December.
We will be holidaying in Europe, with the dog for the months of July and August.

My understanding from the various threads here, is that there won't be any problem returning to Ireland at the end of August because it's been 6 months since the initial vaccination. Is this correct?

I've seen some posters say that the 6 months is dependent on a 'successful titer test'.
Is that the test taken 30 days after the rabies shot is administered?
If the results of that test are too low, what happens?

    Tx

Yes, no issues, the vaccination is valid for 3 years. There is no blood test within the EU. You just need the vaccination recorded in the pet passport.

Bear in mind if travelling through the UK to get to Europe there will likely be changes to requirements thanks to Brexit

if travelling between Ireland and any other EU country it is just the rabies vaccine ( to be given once pup is over 15 weeks and wait 3 weeks before travel ) and worming when coming back to Ireland

The good news is that EU reaidents can still go back and forth to GB with the EU pet passport with rabies vaccination, it's only GB residents that will need their pets to have blood tests and health certificates
