Bathroom fan isolator location?

    Can these be fitted in a bathroom outside the zones or do they have to be outside the bathroom?

    Wall mounted switches are not permitted within any zones of a bathroom. That means inside 3mts from shower or bath edge.
    Most bathrooms are smaller than this so outside (below 1200mm)

    What about ceiling mounted

    Should be ok outside the zones

    Below 1200mm height ?

    Why do most public toilets have these types of switches located 400 mm or so from ceiling ?

    Hand dryers and the like they do to stop people switching them off

    Don't think the rules allow it isolators is 400-1600 off floor

    Thats true but not all walls are inside a zone!
    Take a look at page 174 of the regs (101) theres a good example.

    530.6 doesn't apply, that's headed "Control Devices"

    I'm thinking it's allowed to mount them on a ceiling near the fan, not saying it's ideal

    There is exceptions ,extractor fan socket is one example.

    The rule you quoted is headed Control Devices

    Therefore that's all it applies to

    Reci Inspector told me on last inspection they want them between the allowed switch heights. No idea if he's right or not and wasn't arsed arguing with him.
