Multizone underflooring heat control options

Hi,

I am in the middle of a house build/refurb and the plumbing has come quicker than I expected. It is a 3 zone underfloor system downstairs with rads upstairs. Plumber is talking about putting wired termostats in each zone downstairs with manual thermostatic values on the main rads upstairs, with a hive possibly controlling basic on-off. Not what I had wanted at all but there was obviously some miscommunication between builder and plumber.

So I (ugently!) need some advice! Is there any HA system that can deal with a 3 zone manifold? And has thermostatic value control? So I guess overall I need a 4 zone system (upstairs plus the 3 downstairs) and then the addition of the rad values?

Any quick advice would be really appreciated (he is talking about wiring for the downstairs thermostats this weekend).

The rad starter kit has the internet bridge in it which I assume has a one channel relay for the boiler. The smart therms will replace the wired therms the plumber is installing - I'll talk to him about putting in the cheapest therms possible for the moment and we'll switch them out when the house has internet and I can set up the system.

Do that make sense? Am I missing anything obvious there?

No the Internet bridge only allows your rad valves and room stats to talk to the tado cloud service/your mobile app.
The bridge has no contact with the boiler.
You'll still need a manifold controller to listen to the stats and control the valves.

Sorry I had a reply composed earlier and obviously lost in it in the posting.

You are right Coley, the internet bridge doesn't have a relay in it, the Tado offerings are really quite difficult to understand from their Amazon listings alone. Fundamentally they are replacements to fit into an existing system and in that respect (and in the context of what my plumber is trying to do with his approach) it may well be that I don't Tado control of the boiler at all. It all depends how the heatmiser wiring controller (UH8 model) that the plumber wants to install works, I've put a question on the plumbing and heating forum re that.

If anyone has any other thoughts on how to control a 3 zone underfloor heating system with one rad zone I'd appreciate any input.

Might be worth holding off on smart control of underfloor heating. I have underfloor heating downstairs also on 3 zones. Smart control would not be of great benefit to me due to the slow reaction time. Main benefit of smart control of heating is to be able to turn on or off the heat remotely if needed. For underfloor the reaction tome is so slow that it’s better suited to just setting the stats once and leaving it alone.

Not what you are asking but related.
