Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

screwfixing to metal studs

    Hello,

I will be fixing panels (heavy-ish) to a new plasterboard office wall which has been constructed using metal studs. I have only fixed into wooden studs before and wanted to find out what fixings to use, or whether the metal studs are able to take as much weight as wood studs?

    Any guidance appreciated.

The metal studs are very light gauge and the completed framework is very flimsy until plasterboard is fixed, it's this that gives it strength and rigidity. Any jobs I've seen in the past (where sanitary ware, heavy cabinets etc were fixed to metal studs) using metal studs have had ply grounds fixed in between studs (behind plasterboard) to take fixings from heavy items. Also studs at door opes have timber studs placed in the metal to take frame fixings etc. You can probably refer to Gyproc's website for ideas on typical loadbearing capacity based on 12 or 15mm slabs of standard/ 2.4m height.
