Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cracked glass on hob of Rangemaster 110 Electric Cooker

I noticed yesterday morning that the glass is cracked on the top of my electric hob. The crack is going around 3 of the rings. We looked up the cost to replace and its over £700 from UK and will take about 20 working days. Its look pretty easy to replace, hubbie is fairly good with these things. Just wondering has this happened to anyone else. Is it safe to continue to use, i can use the other 2 rings. Would I be able to claim this on the house insurance, its very expensive to repair but then i don't have €3000 to replace it either. Its 15 years old but looked after well by me!!! Its an Rangemaster 110 electric cooker. Any advise would be gratefully appreciated.

It will work ok if you have no spillage, if water makes its way through the cracks into the plates it will short circuit and may even damage the control regs, no spills fine. The fact that its hard wired and fixed installation you can claim under house contents but you will prob have an excess on your policy. Get a quote from your domestic appliance engineer for a fitted replacement and present it to your insurance agent and see how you fare. Fitting a replacement hob all the heating rings have to be removed from the cracked hob and refitted to the replacement. No need to go to UK Exsparetise in Tullamore will be able to supply one
