Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    certainly a great price OP

bought it as a CV19 present to self.

only grey 41mm was available when I went to order. battery size same in both sizes afaik

battery life seems pretty bad but a fairly inexpensive way to mess around with android wear OS

idea of some of the apps here ->

    https://www.wareable.com/android-wear/you-wear-it-well-the-best-apps-for-android-wear

will also use it for listening to music / podcasts on a run

Your links aren't going to the watch. Can you please describe what the watch is called or link it again?

Links are switching to US site for some reason.

Change shipping to UK in top right corner.
Pick mens smartwatches. Red and green is still in stock.

it's 1 day battery life, has some space 1.6gb free for music and app storage. built-in gps

Wear OS apps and google pay main attractions imo

1 day be a pain for constantly charging but it would be handy for getting back into running

This is the only reason I didn't pull the trigger. Most fossil watches have seriously bad battery life, especially if you're going to use it for exercising.

Forget about any kind of sleep tracking it is probably capable of. It's going to be charging every night.

All Wear OS watches have poor battery life because it's a full-fledged android device on your wrist.

but then again they also have the most interesting flexibility like apps to add new features

most "smartwatches" are not really smartwatches are just fitness bands that are in watch form and do nothing much beyond step-tracking, sleep tracking, notifications and maybe gps.

this is actually a true smart-watch but as expected the battery life is bad.

Interested in an android smartwatch. Can anyone recommend a decent budget alternative to this fossil? Battery life is putting me off.

Yeah, that's not really true. My gear S3 frontier does 3 days, and it's far from a new device.

I have bought a fossil watch for someone before, and when I noticed she wasn't wearing it, she said it's because she kept forgetting to charge it.

Anyway, it's a great deal for the price....if you go into it well aware of its limitations.

I know the Samsungs have longer battery life but they also have less apps and it's Tizen, not Android.

You used to have to install an app called Pay Enabler which you would open every time you wanted to make a payment, as Google Pay would get disabled in the background.

yup wear OS.. umm not sure on the version but I've been paying with my watch for over 12 months now.

Don't need to bring my phone with me, once the token is on the phone you can pay just using the watch and the phone can be back home.

Very handy, especially on a night out when I don't fancy carrying a brick in my pocket (or a wallet)

Incidentally I picked up the red in this, but all other colours apart from green seem to be gone so move fast.

I mainly want this for the swimming functionality which my Huawei can't do.

Just tested this on my fossil sport and still says Google pay is not working in your location.

That was the method that I was thinking of.

I'll also try it when u get the watch but if it's not working it's not working.

Not the reason I bought it tho in any case.

With this watch you would need your phone with you for Google pay in any case so not a huge deal to have to use the phone imo

Yep, it's a great price for it and I like the watch. Wear OS has documented issues but once you charge it every night it will cover most needs, exercising etc...

weird, I'm curious to know why I don't need my phone with me for the Huawei watch which is to all intents and purposes the same OS. Anyway will find out soon, and I'll make do with cycling tracking until the damned pool reopens!

Hasnt that Huawei watch got a Sim card and hence own connection to the internet?

Or can you pay without the internet connection?

Being honest I'm not an expert on how the security and balance checking works in conjunction with the NFC really.

I think that it varies by device.

Obviously the transaction is checked at the pos terminal but I believe that also a connection can be required on the device side

I've had a ticwatch for a while now and love it. Same as this charging daily.

Think il pull trigger on this and treat myself.

You can put a SIM in but I don't bother.

What I do need to do perhaps once in a while is activate Pay Enabler while beside phone then it must create a local token on the watch.

I can then head to supermarkets and use the watch all without needing the phone with me for up to two weeks or so. Great stuff and handy for buying a coffee when out on the bike or going for a jog.

I hate carrying my phone with me so great to have the freedom.

I wonder if it's because I have Revolut on my Google Pay rather than an Irish card

Incidentally, I went through Quidco when I was buying this so I get £ 3.32 cashback too... nice deal!

Yeah I read that too... there's a proxy workaround on xda developers though which seems to work for some.

Will investigate later when I get it...

    Here's some info about...

Word of warning about Fossil, they make great watches but their customer service is appalling. Check them out on Trust pilot.

In my own case, I purchased a gen 3 gents watch about this time last year. I received a ladies watch in a totally different colour to chat I ordered. Initial contact with Fossil looked helpful but then went around in circles for a few weeks. In the end, I opened a claim with PayPal and was refunded. Obviously buying through PM/PW etc complicates things.

order processed... seems to be same watch I ordered so far ;)

Quick one.. does the music player on this have the option to output to it's own speaker, or is it only via Bluetooth headphones?

Sometimes you may forget the headphones but still want a bit of a rhythm going, even if it's fairly tinny sounding

    Yeah Bluetooth headphones work fine.

Yes I use Google play music and download a playlist for when I'm running without the phone.
