Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Talk about a game of two halves. Not sure what happened to Betis. Positive night for Barca with Griezmann playing well and the youngster Fati looking good.

Guardado should never wear the shirt again. Iglesias and Robles were massive losses, one or two of the Barca's goals were saveable. We also need a CDM badly to free up Carvalho as that's not his position.

Common sense would say that when push comes to shove he messes up big Champions League ties & even the first legs leads they had in them games were flattering before they came crashing down to earth.
He may have won La Liga twice against both Madrid sides who couldn't even crack 80 points either year, Real didn't even get 70 last year they were that rubbish.

Must win game for Betis against Leganés. Iglesias still out, hopefully Loren can continue his run.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Started off badly but Betis playing well now, they've hit the post twice, Joaquín from a free and mandi from a header. I notice how the defence looks a lot better tonight with mandi in for bartra.

Leganés score with their first attempt on target ffs. Braithwaite.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

VAMOS!! Lorén scores, great work down the right by Emerson to set up the goal. 3 in 3 now for Lorén. 1-1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Fekir you beautiful man!!! Great work by Joaquín playing It through to Canales and Canales then with a great cross to Fekir. 2-1!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Great win. Fekir was man of the match, he could be a legend here at Betis, was immense tonight. Lorén and Emerson were also very good. Great to get the 3 points before the international break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Pleased for Fekir having this good start to his Betis career.

I see Ansu Fati got a goal for Barca after his cameo role last week. Nice to see the guy taking his chance. Fairytale stuff. Poor result though for Barca, drawing 2-2. Didn't see the game but sounds like Osasuna were well deserving of something.

    Fati's header was excellent.

And it makes him Barca's youngest ever scorer in La Liga. Great for him.

Teams for Villarreal vs Real Madrid:
Villarreal XI: Andres; Gaspar, Albiol, Torres, Quintilla; Cazorla, Iborra; Chukwueze, Gomez, Toko Ekambi; Gerard Moreno.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Vazquez, Casemiro, Kroos, Bale; Jovic, Benzema.

First starts for summer signings Jovic and Mendy. Villarreal have conceded 6 goals in their opening 2 games so hopefully there will be a few more in this one.

Game is live on ITV4 from 8pm. This might be the last game ITV have this season as their original deal expires after this evening.

Atleti from 0-2 down, back to 2-2. They really need to capitalise on others dropping points if they're to have any chance.

Looking forward to the match this evening

3-2, great come back, will be sure to look at the highlights

    VAR called but 1-0 Villarreal

Villarreal lead! Gerard Moreno with the goal. Ramos nabbed of the ball.

    Bale equalises just before Half-Time.

Thought Jovic struggled that half but he was involved well in the equaliser. Mendy did well. His pace is getting a test against Chukwueze.

Bale might just out last ZZ.

Well worked by Jovic and Carvajal, handy finish for Bale 1-1 half time score

2-1 to Villarreal! Moi Gomez with the tap in. 15 minutes for Madrid to salvage something.

    Bale equalises!

    Lol, 2-2 Bale again

    Lol Bale sent off now.

    Bale sent off!

And it finishes 2-2. Madrid will be disappointed with that result.

Valencia are after sacking(in my opinion) the best manager in Spain. Peter Lim doesn't have a clue about football, he might get his buddy Gary neville in for another stint.

Former Spain u21 coach Albert Celades is taking over apparently. Very strange set of events. I'm sure Marcelino won't be short of offers in the coming months.

It's because Lim wanted to go back to giving Mendes control over transfers, remember when Valencia were shít a few years ago? That was Lim and Mendes doing. Marcelino and Alemany(director of football) got Valencia back to where they are, buying sensibly and finishing fourth two years in a row and winning the copa del rey last year. Alemany will probably resign now as he threatened to do so in the summer. Betis and Sevilla now have to be favorites for fourth place. However as a football fan I am saddened as Valencia under Marcelino were on an upward curve and I thought that in a few years it would be a big four in Spain.

Mallorca and Athletic Bilbao drew 0-0. The end of the game was fun. Kubo, who is on loan at Mallorca from Madrid, won a penalty with some nice skill but Abdon Prats hit it wide with a really poor pen. Then Athletic got a pen which Aduriz took but it was saved. Mallorca then thought they won it in the final seconds with a header but it was offside.

Excited to read that Hazard might be in line to make his league debut tomorrow.

To listen to Graham Hunter is like having a flesh eating tick burrowing into your ear. Annoying is not a strong enough word.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Fati has been great for someone who is a only 16 years old, hopefully he doesn't get bullied aside when Messi returns to the team. Griezmann has been very quiet in the first half, borderline anonymous.

A goal and an assist for a kid of 16 is ridiculous stuff. Looks like Barca are hitting form at the right time.

Atletico lost their 100 per cent record by losing 2-0 to Real Sociedad. Odegaard got a goal which will please his parent club.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Betis just drew 1-1 there with Getafe. Betis were down to 10 from the 30th minute so I suppose It was a good result. I hate when we play Getafe, filthy team.

Celta Vigo beaten 2-0 at home by Granada and had two players sent off. The second sending off was fair enough but I can't understand why VAR recommended the first dismissal as I couldn't see anything in it. Granada's second goal from Yangel Herrera is worth checking out.

D'ont think Real should have got rid of Navas.

LaLiga all over the shop. Atleti draw with Celta Vigo at home, Barca losing 2-0 to Granada at the moment. Real can go top with a win tomorrow over Sevilla...

Real up 1-0 through Benzema. Going joint top as it stands despite playing quite bad this season.
Not sure if that says more about the others than it does them.

Benzema is so important to Madrid. They'd be in big trouble without him. Feels like he still doesn't get proper recognition for being one of the best.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I was kinda surprised Madrid won so handy but then I seen that Sevilla side & thought I was watching the Turkish SuperLig.
They used to scout great young players when they were winning things but now I see Luuk De Jong, Nolito, Jesus Navas, the Fernando who was useless at Man City around 5 years ago, Javier Hernandez & others who never pushed on like Ocampos, Vasquez & Oliver Torres. It wouldn't really excite you.

Messi went off injured tonight in Barca's 2-1 win over Villarreal. He's struggling with his fitness this season. Hope he can get a run of games going soon.

Two great long-range strikes from Arthur and Cazorla:

    Agree.

Always been a fan of him. You don't be a Madrid forward for over a decade without being good.
