Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If it’s a 48 hour contract u would think the staring salary would b 33k+ min considering its shift work and weekends
Anybody have an idea how we can find out it was unusual that it wasn’t posted with recruitment ads??

It would be up to 48hrs with most weeks shorter and hosts (Cork route) start rate low 30s this is likely similar if not the same. Cushy job and very well paid considering.

I’ve heard it’s a 48 hour week contract but not sure on the pay

I should say I have not viewed the specific add for CSO's but:

I suspect roles will be for contract of between 39 hours and 48 hours depending on the depot. For example based in Heuston would likely require high contract rate compared to Waterford based on journey times. If you had a contract for 39 hours its likely the roster would not reach this maximum hours per week. I could guarantee not a single CSO or Train Host work 48 hours per week, most 35-45 hours and typical shift is 6-9 hours.

I don't know the salary but around 31k-36k depending if your contract is for 39, 40 41 hours up to 48 hours and rise to max of scale over time.

I would't email an employer looking for salary details before you have interviewed.

Replied last week confirming my preferred dates for the tests coming up, heard nothing since. Has anyone heard back yet?

Does anyone know about the possibility of changing your preferred location due to a change in circumstances. Or is it futile considering I've been invited to stage 2 now. I choose Dublin originally (Jan 2019) but would now prefer Galway.

I’d mention it you never know perhaps another candidate put in for Galway but would prefer Dublin but the chances are very small. If you go ahead with Dublin and qualify in Dublin the transfer policy dictates you must spend a minimum of 3 years in your starting depot.

Beware transfers can take a lot longer than 3 years though. I personally know 4 drivers who took over 7 years to transfer to their preferred depot.

    Good Luck

As an employee can you tell me if you guys get free travel?

  • Registered Users Posts: 453 ✭✭Rootsblower

20 free tickets per year for countrywide train travel. You can also get what’s known as a bearer duty pass i.e a free pass from your nearest train/bus station to your place of work or nearest stop to work. You get a Privilege identity pass Which gives reduced rate rail services and ferry tickets

Thanks for replying, I ask as I’m based in Kildare and if successful it would be handy getting the train to work daily

I don't think they re-advertised since the first time. They using the same pool of people who applied back then.

Heuston would be handy so. Unfortunately joined up thinking is not very prevalent in Irish Rail so they would probably put you in Connolly and another trainee who lives in Bray/Drogheda/Dundalk in Heuston.

    Subsidiaries?

All depends what department you are in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 Johnjamesp

In relation to stage 2 and the pre interview form, are you timed when filling out the answers to each question? And (being very cheeky) what kind of skill sets were the questions based around? Thanks for any help
