I'd say for psychology you would be better off with the open university. Kilroys is good but your qualification with the ou would be more recognised I'd imagine.

    Hey .fi.88,
I started to study psychology w/the Open University a few years ago and although I did not finish (I changed to Biology because I was not prepared to make the sacrifices to become a clinical psychologist) I would highly recommend the OU method.
I too had doubts about recognition and quality of the course but I had the great fortune of meeting an English Professor teaching psychology in England (the mom of a distant friend) and she gave me a fantastic insight into how the OU courses are received in the private/public community.
Check out the OU site and request a 2009 prospectus - and check out prospects.co.uk for profiles on various job sectors.
Best of luck and believe me it's worth it - I haven't obtained my degree yet but I've landed a decent job because of my OU study.
    Good luck.:pac:

I'm not studying psychology so I can't help you with that, but I have been doing a Bsc in Technology with th OU for the last 4 fours and I can't speak more highly of them , the suport you get is great. I have work colleagues completing similiar course with scoil.ie and they're not too impressed.

If you want to work as a psychologist then you should really do a qualification thats recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland. Their website gives details of recognised courses. http://www.psihq.ie/

At present the Oscail degree is not recognised as a foundation degree for postgraduate specialisms. The Open University degree however is. Also recognised is the part time degree from the Dublin Business School.
A complete list is available on the PSI website.

OU are very good as regards support for students. Funding is the main issue as their courses are very expensive. Also the UK government does, or at least used to subsidise course costs for UK citizens but that doesn't apply to Irish students. Although with the current rate of exchange you might get a good deal now. :D

RE: Kilroys their psychology course is not recognised and wouldn't really get you very far if you wanted to work professionally. Its useful as an introduction to the field, but honestly you might be better off looking at an OU level 1 course instead.

Yes, if it is a recognised diploma.
The amount of credit can be decided by the OU.
