There is to be no discussion of where you are watching this unless you are located in the United States or Canada.

Have to say that the first season started well, became terrible for a few episodes (the patch over episode was awful) and ended with a few great episodes. From what I,ve seen of the first few episodes of the second season while over in Canada it is much more polished than the first season and the whole Macbeth father/son struggle is beginning to take a clearer shape.

Having said all that it is basically just credible enough to be watchable and rarely surprises you and the dialogue can still clang.Another gripe is the constant dependence on white power as the big bad.I mean surely theirs other groups out there. And the real IRA having an abundance of guns and a shortage of cash(other way around surely) and running guns in northern california!!!It is a big dumb show for lads.It doesn,t belong in the same stable as the Shield or the same universe as the wire or the Sopranos. But its getting better.

    Only just saw this thread.

Watching series 2 at the minute and I think its a huge improvement on season 1 loads of stuff going on.

I started watching season one again there Tuesday night, I remembered how disapointed I was the 1st time I saw it, not a great opening ep but it does get better but season 2 in miles better in every way. Grittier if ya will.

Mods feel free to delete the thread I started, apologies.

Bit disappointed how badly Henry Rollins got his ass handed to him by Jax in that street fight.

ditto!! lol I didnt think Jax was much of a street fighter until that;)

The whole clay vs Jax thing now is becoming a big theme the more the series develops.

    season 2?

Yes, good show, they are in the middle of Season 2 across the pond. RTE showing it so late is yet another example of dotty scheduling of decent American shows.

The plot is loosely based on Hamlet (complex father / son relationship, bitchy mom and all that).

In case you're wondering, Sam Crow / SAMCRO is not some mythical member of the club, but an acronym for the club itself (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original Charter).

I saw a documentary recently on either Discovery or The History Channel (can't remember which) about an ATF agent (Billy Queen) who infiltrated and brought down the Mongols bike gang over in the US - SoA instantly came to mind while watching. You can view it on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPEc1awPQ8o&feature=related

If I'm thinking of the same documentary "brought down" might be a bit of a stretch. Will check out link later when home from work.

That season finale was the most far fetched TV show I've ever seen since the A-Team.

I know it's fiction, but Christ they're really asking the audience to stretch their imaginations to believe all that.

don't think I'll be watching it for the 3rd season.(well I will, just not downloading the episodes as soon as they're avilable like I would do with a show I'm into)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,475 ✭✭✭corblimey

Watched the 2nd season in 2 goes over the weekend. Never seen it before, and only 'tuned in' when the finale started getting some good reviews online. It's good enough, I suppose, massive suspension of belief is required most of the time, but that goes for a lot of tv these days. I'll tune in next year but I have my doubts that there'll be a speedy resolution of the cliff hanger.

There was an element of that, I did think the ending was like some action film from the early 90s, it even had a hint of GTA off it, I loved it though. I had a big nostalgic smile on my face.

You do have to remember these guys are out in the middle of nowhere so can get away with allot.

Course they can. Especially when even the "good" cop (Hale) had no problems with them murdering Zobell.

Great season. Waited until the last week then watched them all. Some things were a little far fetched but it was enjoyable none the less. Roll on season 3.

I thought series 2 was pretty good until the last few episodes. It was absolutely ridiculous.
The whole Clay Vs Jax plot gone out the window wtf!, Opie finds out the truth of his wifes murder and does nothing, again wtf? The IRA guy kidnapping the baby, what the hell were they thinking?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

pretty bad time for jax, he starts on the porn business, and then gets their good friend killed, then then the last ep ( did i miss an ep and miss her funeral)

  • Registered Users Posts: 71 ✭✭silver_surfer

I lashed through the two series of this last week, some great mindless fun I must say. Season two was a huge improvement on one but like everyone else I thought the baby stealing was a bit much. Pearlman and Sagal are defenitely the best in it.

Watched the first two seasons a few weeks ago and although I was sceptical when I was told the premise of the show - I did actually really like it - found it thoroughly entertaining! Thought the characters were each really unique/interesting and the plots were brilliant! I for one can't wait for season 3!
(Also Jax is teh haaaaaaaaaaaaawt! :P:D)

According to IMDB season 3 will start airing in September 2010. This is in line with the starts of seasons 1 and 2.

Five-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Hal Holbrook will join the cast of Sons of Anarchy in a recurring role during Season 3, FX announced.
Holbrook will play Nate Madock, the father of Gemma Teller (Katey Sagal). Madock is an 80-year-old man who has mid-stage Alzheimer's and spends his days in bed watching old Westerns.
He and Gemma, who ended Season 2 as a fugitive, reconnect by coincidence, according to FX's announcement. Holbrook will appear in four episodes, including the Season 3 premiere.
Production on the 13-episode third season begins Friday, and Season 3 is slated to premiere in September.
Holbrook's career spans more than five decades. He is best known for his Emmy winning work in the The Bold Ones: The Senator, Pueblo and the miniseries Lincoln. In 2007 he was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar for his role in Into the Wild. Holbrook's wife, Dixie Carter, died earlier this month from complications arising from endometrial cancer.
