Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I didn't think we'd get this much rain, the east was looking mostly dry, the rain certainly shifted further east than what was predicted at the beginning of the weekend.

    It sure did !
We escaped in east Galway bar 15 mm or so overnight Saturday into Sunday
Delighted as the forecast was grim!
    Bitter cold though

What a difference tonight since earlier today here in Kerry. Rain petered out late afternoon and got to feeling mild as the winds eased getting up to 10.8C. Completely calm now and outside a short time ago and can hear the sea quite loud as it settles down after the gales today. Halo around the moon tonight from a thin layer of high cloud.

Roll on the milder and warmer dry weather over the coming days . My trees could seriously do with a break from the cold wind to let the leaves come out without getting singed. Already a lot of leaves a bit crispy around the edges. Had enough of winter clothes and heating, very ready now for a warm spell and looks warm up until Saturday perhaps, Sunday it might start to unravel again but plenty of days to enjoy before then hopefully.

Took a spin down to the local beach once the rain cleared this evening. The sea was very rough! Looking forward to some warmth over the next few days.

Not much rain here compared to down south but a miserable day all the same, heating on early and fire lit, might as well be December. Caved in and booked a week in the Med earlier!

Do we think there will be much in the way of sunshine the weekend or is it just warm air coming up from South? Remember the really mild weather in February was still very dull and breezey

still pouring rain here in Meath, almost 24 hours of continuous rain.

What an unbelievable evening in east Galway
    Like a summers evening
Sitting outside reading and no midges !

Such a contrast to last few evenings
    It’s a mad little country !

  • Registered Users Posts: 244 ✭✭deaglan1

Agreed, East Galway is superb today. The contrast with yesterday and Sunday is boggling.

People always say this but u'll see much bigger temperature swings in most places at our latitude.

What a great day in Kerry, getting up to 17.3C here near Tralee. Blue skies since this morning with some clouds drifting by. Some Lenticular clouds about this evening in the light SE breeze.

First day in ages that I have seen so many people lying in the sun in parks enjoying the weather, good weather really does make people happy

Funny how there can be such differing experiences with weather on such a small island. Doubt it got out of single digits in Dublin.

Friday looks like the warmest day, looking warm for Kerry, might be a bit cloudy though, hopefully just high cloud with a few breaks.

Feckin miserable day again here. Hope this eastern wind spell doesn't mean more of this here.

Fairly miserable in Donegal as well, murky greyness with low visibility all day. Cleared up in the late evening so hopefully a precursor for the rest of the week

Was lovely in cork city today. Some clouds about but was warm and the breeze was warm and it was dry, some change from the last two days! Everything is drenched though

Well it's an improvement here anyway on the last while in North Dublin.. at least that awful breeze has subsided. Sun trying to break through the high cloud

I found it quite cold when I went out for a walk earlier - overcast and breezy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,666 ✭✭✭✭sryanbruen

More cloud in Dublin after a promising end to yesterday, it's last April all over again.

cloudy and mild in cork city, breeze is slightly chilly though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,457 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

The sun has finally broke through the clouds :)

A cold day in Sligo. 11c and cloudy.

Might get 2 or 3 days good from this.

It always works like this. The long range hints at 7 to 10 days the medium range 4 to 7 days then actual weather 2 to 3 days.

Same with snow events though the long range usually 3 days with these that ends up being 3 hours

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,959 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

cold and cloudy here in Meath. Ground still wet from the heavy rain of Sunday night to Tuesday morning.

Indeed, All will be forgiven if we see a repeat of last May this year though ;)

Overcast with sun trying but failing to break through properly in South Dublin , 13.8c.

Mostly sunny spells here in my area of meath, felt nice in the sun to, clouding over now and hazy over the hills

Cloudy 12 degrees very meh. A lot better than last weekend but that’s such a low bar. This spring has save for 1 week been very disappointing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,457 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Relatively benign evening given the context of the last week.. overcast but no chill breeze. Ok by me.

Much better chance of that burning off this morning.

Just checked sat and there is not so much nuisance cloud around. I'd say beautiful afternoon, evening in store.

Some changes in the forecast heading in to next week? It's possible we could avoid the fronts with their associated rain bands which would prolong the good weather (still cooler than the weekend though).

17.1c n North Kildare with hazy sunshine. But if a breeze but it's not too chilling. Can just about get away with being in a t shirt with nothing over it, once I keep in the sun.
