Looking to see if something like this exists and if it does, recommendations for an installer. Elderly parent living at home alone, still very capable and able, but I'm concerned about breakins whilst he's there. There's no internet in the house (although in mobile broadband coverage outside) and he'll want a minimum of fuss/disruption. I'm hoping to get:

External monitorable cameras that work over mobile broadband
External PIRs that will trigger camera and floodlight
An easy to use (possibly portable?) panic button
A very simple interface for arming/disarming the alarm

    Thanks in advance

Cameras don't work well over mobile data. Cameras use lots of data and mobile data normally can't handle the load.

To be honest, you might need to think about getting wired broadband in, as part of the cost of making your parents home safer.

If you don't need cameras, then plenty of alarm systems can work over both broadband and GSM connection if broadband is down. For instance HKC for pro systems or Honeywell for DIY.

Most alarm systems can be spec'd with panic buttons, others here can probably better advise on that.

Under the Seniors Alert Scheme, Personal alarms are available to older people for personal reassurance and security in the home. To qualify for the Grant, you must be over 65, living alone or with another eligible person. The grant covers the cost of purchasing and installing the monitored personal alarm and additional pendant (annual monitoring fee is paid by the grant recipient).

Thanks very much, I wasn't aware of this.

Vodafone do a SmartBand thing, detects falls, has an SOS button

Also has GPS and works everywhere

That is cool, looks just like a step tracker, so more likely to be acceptable to elderly people.

Why does everything designed for the elderly have too look so ugly!

A pity the Senior Alert Scheme don't support this.

BTW, while way more expensive, the Apple Watch also has fall detection and alert and also can monitor some heart functions.
