Hi , I want to get a rig to start sim racing , not hardcore iracing or anything , just on the xbox . I play forza a bit and picked up F1 2016 and Dirt Rally last week , My better half got me the Fanatec csl le bundle for my birthday last week and im going to get the shifter and handbrake as well . I was going to get an rseat RS1 with a buttkicker , buttkicker mount , surround sound speaker kit , and handbrake/shifter mount and tv stand. The total cost of the rseat stuff comes to €1774.20 Delivered which is on the expensive side , So what i'm wondering is could that amount of money be better spent on a different rig ? I was also looking at the GT ultimate V2 ,I realise this is complete overkill but ive waited a few years to finally have the space for it so I said why not . any help or input appreciated .

Between the "rseat RS1" and the "GT ultimate V2" I'd go with the GT simply because it doesn't have it's support post in between the legs. I hadn't heard of the GT before though, I'll have to look into that one myself.

I'm currently looking at the GT OMEGA ART which is considerably cheaper than the Rseat.

I realise this is complete overkill
Never let anyone tell you that! :D

It's actually not overkill, they're kind of necessary. I've been working with a armchair and computer desk and it's just not good enough, stuff keeps moving around.

The RS1 has it's support post on the right hand side, outside your legs? Was looking at some reviews for it recently (way way out of my budget at the minute but no harm in looking at what's out there), ISR had a good review of it (few years old now). Looks extremely solid, would want to be for that price though I guess.

Oh, that's not to bad so. Still horrendously expensive.

I had the rs1 before and it is not as solid as it looks, also the seat and wheel position is not optimal. The wheel deck is a bit to low and a bit to far away. I personally like to have the wheel high and close :)

I would recommend checking out Sim-lab and their rigs, Richard that runs Sim-lab is great to deal with.

You would still need to get a seat and maybe a seat slider. Those rigs are really solid, the P1 it very nice but more built for using a Direct Drive wheel.

You also have the plans to my rig in this forum, but that costs a bit more :)

Was looking at those GT Omega's over the weekend - they seem pretty decent for the price actually. Although for the sake of a £10 difference between the ART and basic PRO - I'd get the Pro. Those support bars on either side supposedly make a big difference to the rigidity of the rig (on top of the few extra bits you get). Shipping was only 30 odd pounds I think although everything looks out of stock until the new year anyway.

P.S. Was watching an old JayzTwoCents video on it and noticed he has a 5% coupon code (Jayz2K14) that still works in case you ever decide to pull the trigger. :)

That Sim-Lab gear was completely new to me until I saw your own build thread, couldn't figure out why it was so expensive for just a frame, or how the thing fits together or how anything else attaches to it for that matter. That's the ignorance of being practically new to this hobby I guess. :o
Then I spotted the video below where he reviews the monitor stand Sim-Lab sell, goes into excellent detail about how everything fits together and gives a good impression on the quality of the materials. The stuff looks fantastic. Now I understand the price tag! :pac:

I'm not convinced about the sim-lab stuff. I'm sure it's top notch and some of the aluminium extrusion looks somewhat unique, but that aluminium extrusion can be bought in all sorts of sizes off the shelf for prices €10 and up per metre. All you really need to work with that stuff is a saw to cut it to length.

I do appreciate that they've put in all the research and development to make sure it's going to work and that's probably what you're paying for, but if you're anyways handy with building things you could save a fortune doing it yourself.

Its not the actual profiles that make the cost go up so high, its the brackets and nuts and bolts. Though I did look for a very long time and it is not easy find good and cheap alu profiles. I know that it can be found but it is not that easy.

It can be hard to find, there are distributors but you have to ring them for catalogs, it's not very convenient and mostly geared towards business needs.

That was the problem for me, I couldn't get any of the profiles from the many different companies I tried to reach and tried many. I had to have a business to be able to get anywhere near those low prices of €10/m and many times it was profiles that were not that strong (more hollow inside). Only place I could find profiles was from motedis, I am guessing this is why so many people buy from them for their rigs including Sim-lab and Heusinkveld.

Well I changed my plans kind of , I figured if i was gonna spend the guts of €1800 on just the rs1 (which was nearly an NS1 for €2500:eek:) , why not add a few quid and go the whole hog , So I ordered the Obutto Revolution with 5.1 speaker surrounds , this

Lol that's a slight change from some non-hardcore xbox racing. :D
You'll be like a kid on Christmas when all that arrives, nice gear!

Lol , yeah that was the plan but Laptops direct sent me a laptop instead of the
PC I ordered and Obutto only shipped the seat yesterday after saying id have it on Tuesday ,lying BasT@rds , prob wont get the seat till next week now , And laptops direct said it would take about 10 days get it sorted (returning the laptop and sending the correct computer) So I reordered it and will just get a refund off them for the first order . I've been thinking about getting a rig from Obutto, a wheel clamped to my desk is just not cutting it anymore. How do you find the rig, any pros or cons? How did the assembly go? Do you find the seat comfortable?

Hi , So far I'm very happy with it , it was handy enough to put together , took about 3 or 4 hours . For the price of it you get a lot , monitor stand , keyboard tray , shifter mount , cup holder !! , It's rock solid and the seat is comfy enough with good adjustability back and forth and the wheel mount has good adjustability too . The keyboard tray is nice and big so it's good for playing other games as well and also just generaI pc usage ,I can't really fault it tbh .
