Lots of live streams at the moment as the game is out now if you have a new Zealand account. I forgot how ****ing toxic the 2k streamers are. They are all playing 2v2 in the park and playing the same way. Bigman hogging the ball, spamming iso moves, not passing it to the open guy and then missing the heavily contested layup before screaming at the camera.

Seriously, how do people enjoy that ****.

Anyway, actually really looking forward to getting this tomorrow. I think it helps that I'm only paying 3 euro with a trade.

I've only played about 5 online games in total, and that is something I noticed, very little team work and lots of gloryhunting. Let us know how it goes and if the grind is not as bad as they claim it's not!

Well, usually i dive straight into my career but actually spent my first couple of hours in my team. Plenty of modes and challenges to unlock new cards, very addictive.

Played one career game, spent a lot of time creating a player, way more than usual in past 2k games. Story seems good so far, some quality actors like Idris Elba help things. I've read the prelude is 2 hours and you can't play park/nba til it's done but I've read there is a way around it. Enjoying it myself to keep going anyway. No idea of the grind yet, will have to finish this prelude but I'm reading it is quicker this year.

As for the gameplay, I think it's improved. Ton of complaints online about it being the same or its too slow but there are some nice differences. Movement does feel slower but accelerating feels faster so it's a nice balance.
You actually have to play defence this year. Holding L2 isn't enough this year. Reaching or holding the wrong direction can take you well out of position. Spam stealers can get blown by easier. You definitely have to concentrate on your defense.

If anyone gets it and wants a handy 2,900 VC, the answers to the 2kTV episode 1 are in the link below, well worth sitting through it for that.

The Prelude is a mixed bag. Spent a half hour earlier watching cutscenes with a 1v1 thrown in the middle of it. My missus looked up from her laptop at one point to say that she's watched me play this before but never seen so little actual basketball. So yeah, i can see why people are skipping it. Saying that, i did enjoy it, felt like actual grinding to get my draft score up. Turned down a movie shoot to stay at the gym and for a +4 boost in all physical attributes such was nice. Earning VC and putting points towards badge upgrades.

Chose bulls, clippers and celtics to train with and ended up getting drafted to the bulls first round, just what i wanted. Currently playing summer league with since snakey drama from my past thrown in for good measure. Think i might just have 1 to 2 games left to finish the prelude.

So far, with earnings, my 5k preorder and 2.9k vc i got from 2ktv, i currently rated 70. To put into perspective, in 2k19, i was 75 by the time i hung up the controller, best end of my first season. So the progression is definitely quicker. Saying that, i counted what i need to hit 85 and it's 170k vc so still a bit off from that.

Gameplay, I'm loving it. My 6'4 2-way slashing playmaker PG is getting B+ average in games, getting past the D, rarely miss a layup, very few turnovers, for a couple of steals and generally having really good games which means I'm enjoying it. Very positive early impressions.

How would the overall game compare to lady year? Are the models for any of the legend teams looking better

I'm enjoying it more than last year already because it feels like I'm actually progressing and feels like my player belongs in the nba but i haven't even opened Park or made it to the NBA season start yet so still early days to tell. I played one legend game, a blacktop 3v3 consisting of the Bulls All Team, they all looked great but sorry, not sure looks wise compared to last year.

Cool, thanks. My player is very addictive though in fairness. I couldn't get the game today in 3 shops as all sold out. Looking forward to playing MyGM mode.

Played Park last night with my 72 rated PG. Most guys on were 80-85 coughBOUGHTVCcough. I was missing wide open layups so decided to stop shooting until i get my rating up. Park is much more punishing than career games in that regard.

Usual sucky things of waiting too long for a game and ball hog teammates who put up heavily contested shots but i got a game where it all clicked. 3 of us constantly passing and it was a thing of beauty. I managed a whole 2 points but got 11 rebounds and a ton of assists to finish with A- grade and the win. Ranked up a whole Park level from one game.

This year they have pro-am in the park 3v3 so might be easier to get a game going. Previous years, we struggled to get 5 people. Anyone have a team created i could join? I can create one later if not.

I got a gift of 50 psn credit and I've never been more tempted to buy VC, feels so durty :(

#fix2k20 was trending number 1 in America last night. Lot of people not happy. Loading screens are really long and I've seen other people have zero progression from games but people are saying the speed and stamina needs to be buffed but i think they're great at the moment. Lead dev said multiple times that this year, he wants turbo to be used sparingly, just used for quick bursts but the majority attend getting it and just want it changed instead of learning the better mechanic. Anyway, 2k deserve any negativity they can get.

2k obeyed the whiny youtubers who complained their characters are too slow (which is obviously making them look bad in front of their viewers). 2k made everyone faster and apparently bigs are just as fast as guards now. They said they know they went too far and toning it down asap.

I build a guard every year for speed. I forfeit strength and height and get plenty wrecked in park coming up against bigs but my perimeter play makes up for it. YouTubers like to make bigs who are fast and can shoot 3's (bull**** builds) and complain now that 2k20 has done away with them. Shame on the toxic community and also 2k for jumping so quick to their demands.

How are you getting on with this now Zero Cool? I was considering picking this up, however FIFA is out in a couple of weeks and I might get more value out of 2K if I pick it up around Christmas.

It'll probably be too late to get on board with MyPark or Pro-Am at that stage though as everyone will already have a million badges and 99 rated players.

Well, it's easily my favourite 2K in years (not hard though). Leveling up is way faster than last year but the badge grind is tough at the moment. Seems to be your badges matter more than your rating this year and people with gold and HOF badges will have higher success.

So, full disclosure, i bought some VC last night (not proud one bit but since I didn't spend any cash on the game and the psn credit was a gift, I said **** it) so I will give you my impressions pre and post vc purchase.

The game is out almost 1 week and I'm not getting as much time as I'd like gaming wise, but I still went from 60 to 72 as of last night. In 2K19, I spent months playing and managed to get from 60 to 75 so straight away, you definitely level up quicker. I'm really enjoying career games. The slower speed (still not actually slow but youtubers are whining about it) is a welcome change as my speed bursts out of iso have a real pop to them in comparison. I'm making drives, getting past players and finishing (I'm a 2-way slashing playmaker). My mid and 3 pt are low rating so not hitting many shots. My defense ratings keep in front of my man and either shut them down or contest the shot so I'm happy defense wise (until I come up against Kyrie).

Park, as much as I love the mode, is still a **** show. Waiting 5-10 minutes for a game only for a squad to rock up at the last second and take priority. Then when you do get a game, all it takes is for one guy on your team (and there's always one!) who is a Big 60 but wants to try dribble past people, chuck up contested 3's and then refuse to play defense. It ruins the game and your left waiting for the next one. Then you have lag/different shot meter timing and it's hard to even make a layup. I was playing with a fellow boardsie last night and we spent more time waiting for a game than actually playing. Fun when we did but our 3rd guy would ruin it for us by being a dick.

I created a Pro-Am team and this year you can play 3v3 in Pro-Am park so we could just matchmake instead of waiting for a game. If anyone wants to jump on the PS4 pro-am team, give me a shout. 60 rated brown shirts welcome, all we ask is you pass the ball :)

With the VC last night, I jumped to 87 rating (You can upgrade to 85 and then have to unlock cap breakers through xp to go up each level after that) I played a few games after that and it's so much fun. Dunking on guys, dribbling past people with ease and even hitting 3's. I thought it might have made it too easy but my Bulls aren't doing too well so it's a nice challenge dragging them to the playoffs. Also, grinding the badges is where the real end game lies I feel so they will take some time.

I'd definitely recommend picking it up but even if you wait for a sale, you can still have success at the park/pro-am at low level as long as you are with some friendlies. The biggest thing that loses park games is shooting contested shots. Passing to the open man is always the best option but rarely practiced among randoms. I'd love if more people on here had it so we could squad up in park or just play pro-am as that ranks up your rep, xp and badges. Devs said it even ranks up your badges quicker.

After that rant, I'll leave you with this. I bought the Jordan Kilganon (crazy dunker they brought in to mocap his signature dunks) dunk package last night and pulled off this beauty.

Yeah, it's a shame there aren't more people here interested. I don't really have much interest in playing in the park or ProAm with randomers for exactly the reasons you mentioned. I will definitely pick it up, just a question of when.

For anyone interested in My Team, the Triple Threat which is the 3v3 game where you pick any 3 players from your roster to go up against CPU or online opponent, is fully working now.

The offline mode was, well offline since launch with a mysterious 'under maintenance' message. It's up now and actually my favourite game mode in My Team. Quick games to 21 ala Park, you can clearly see the rewards you'll win for each game but now instead of a slot machine deciding what you win, a vault door opens to reveal your prize. Yupp, they never acknowledged the casino ****e after the backlash they got, just patched it out of the game and said nothing :pac:

First game i won, i got an 89 Lebron James free agent card, best I've gotten so far. Much prefer this to domination offline.

    Got this myself.

While the grind isnt as severe your player is still thrash in the NBA.

I thought it would be different playing the prologue as I was nailing everything and making contact lay ups.
Once the NBA season started it was back to the same old.

Not sure is it a glitch but im noticing a severe delay hitting pull up jumpers, I find some space and go to shoot and it seems to take an age to turn and shoot and the space is gone.
This was always a minor problem but the animation difference this year looks like a bug.

I like the changes to the gym, you complete the drills and they give you a 7 day boost. The gym was pointless as it was. I used to go in and stand on the treadmill and use my phone waiting for the boost.

The park is really where the game is at it's best but finding players is the killer.
I played with a lad yesterday who shot something like 2/18 and we still won.
I was taking rebounds and all as a PG and could luckily carry him (AI third player so he was just calling it off him if I gave it to the AI) but that kind of stuff is so annoying.

If anyone is on Xbox, give me an add.

    GilbertoGalway.

Im up to a 75 now so getting there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,520 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

You playing Pro-am to get the AI as the third person? Might try that as I had a disaster with park over the weekend. Kept ending up with randoms who wouldn't pass, taking awful shots and not playing defense. Very frustrating.

The slow shooting this year is because there is a shooting badge that is a necessity called Quick Draw. Expect shots to be slow until you equip this, should be the first badge you go for.

What kind of archetype are you? I built a 2way slashing playmaker. High dribble, driving and defense, low shooting. Shooting is reported to be notoriously hard this year until you get certain badges but i avoid shooting anyway so not affecting me much.

Fully agree on the gym, i have no problem doing that once a week for a nice boost. Training is handy to boost badges as well as you get x2 times the xp from coaches drills.

No, the third guy quit before we started. Your man kept taking shots that had no hope of going in either.
I think he missed his first 9 shots too.
How we won I'll never know given his percentage :D

I tried to do the Pro-Am but was with a few PGs so backed out before it started.
Tbh those games are so long if you're playing with a bunch of turds its worse than the park to suffer through.

Its not the release that's the issue, I've found that slow alright but there was times I've dribbled to an area and went to shoot and it seems to take an age to stop, turn and start jumping.
Maybe it's all related but it's frustrating.

I've been skipping the practice sessions as while the by two is handy it's still a slog.
I've had two badges for playmaking yet im not even 50% up on the other three bars.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,520 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Yupp, the badge grind is very slow, think it's to replace the grind of leveling up last year. There was a badge glitch, might still work but guys online have HOF badges across all their upgrades doing this. Google for more info, way too tedious for me.

Pro-Am now has a 3v3 park rules version, hoping to get a team of 3 or more on ps4 specifically for this.

No idea about the slow gather. Maybe try a different jumpshot animation? Look up chris smooves animation video for 2k20 and copy what he has. Then you'll know if it's a big or just low stats.

I go to ever drill, small bit tedious but i've gotten a few very handy badges from it. Also, if you go to enough, legends appear and give you 3x xp (Jordan visited my training over the weekend, nice touch). Also, Chris Brickley (sp) shows up after so many sessions or maybe it's just sometime in december and gives you the ability to create your own jumpshot.

Spun the neighborhood wheel last night, as i do every day, and got 2x rep for 5 hours. Decided to play some park games and luckily found 2 guys who were really good. They didn't pass to me much but i held my own and we went on an 8 game win streak. Got to Pro 1 with the double rep but the rep rewards are really crap this year, no real incentive to grind for them.

Anyway, on my last 2 games, i was matched up against a guy with a mic who called me every name under the sun and he got fairly racist. I drove past him, dunked on him, stole, block and contested most of his shots but he didn't
stop chatting **** once. I muted him after the game and blew him off the court the next game again but it was fairly full on. Been a while since i came across that online. Playing with randomers sucks! Even though it logs me into Euro servers, it puts me against Americans, i think would be much better if i could play with/against Europeans.

January and I'm still playing 2k which is the longest in years.

I have an 88 PG - original build and stopped putting VC into him at 87 weeks and weeks back.

    83 Glass Cleaning Lockdown C
82 Slashing SF - the worst of the lot as the 92 driving layup doesn't seem any better than the 77 stat on my PG.
    84 Mid Range PF.

I dont have any one great player as I've pumped VC into all of them.
The PF is decent but restricted by badges, trying to see can I restart with more badges on him.

I didn't know when I was making my original player that where I put the stats changed the number of badges so I'm maxed at 17 odd shooting badges which isnt enough once you start realising how many you need.

What I only realised over the last week is that you can manipulate the stats in a way to maximize badges, the difference could be worth 5-10 extra so now I feel it's best to restart my PG.

Never knew this until I'd built 4 or 5 players which is a bummer.
Those badges are more important than stats.

Downloaded NBA 2k 20 on the PS4 sons account is setup with a 15 age limit. He is trying to open the game and gets “ One or more users are under the age requirement, or restricted from my career" what makes this over 18 and are there any parts of the game he can play that are under 18 thanks.
