Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have not used my OLED Vita in ages, but can't see myself ever getting rid of it.

Nor me xenji, I've a newer model and oled I brought day one but its acting weird, sometimes it won't let access application and will go through menus without every selecting anything.

Same, I got XCOM & Civ Rev 2 lately and didn't play either. :o

Has anyone tried the memory card adapters??
See them on AliExpress for dirt cheap and just curious.

Is cex the cheapest place to pick one up aside from sourcing one second hand? They are 130 still in cex and then I'll still have to get the memory cards. I've a load of games saved up from plus that I'd like to use but don't really want to be spending 150 plus just for that.

I ended up getting an OLED version on adverts for €100 plus €10 for registered post. The Vita is in amazing condition, I would give it 95% out of 100. Only thing is it came with a 4gb card so will try get a 16gb one soon. Oh yeah I went to CEX and they had a badly scratched one for €140. Get on adverts and ask the seller to email you close up photos of the front/back, if you like it make an offer and make sure they have good feedback.

I got mine in Cash Exchange (think they were called) but they closed here (miss it tbh got a few great deals in there). Check out other pawn shops outside of Cex if there's any nearby

Bought my "like new" Vita on Adverts years ago & what arrives was fully functional but the rear touchpad looked like it got keyed. It still worked fine but looks awful; screen was fine too.
The irony was inside the box was a very nice cover case for the console

So you need a hacked firmware to use those SD card adapters?

I got mine at the start of the year in Gamestop for €100, the OLED model, so it's worth having a look there. They give a 12 month warranty with them too.

If anyone is looking I'll give first dibs in here, I have a first gen vita in perfect condition that was only used a handful of times. It's 3g and Wi-Fi, have a few memory cards for it and it was always stored in the official vita leather case. It's boxed and everything. Was going to trade into cex towards a Nintendo switch.

First game I bought on launch day was Rayman Origins and it looked glorious on the OLED screen, have to say it still looks amazing 6 years later.

Yeah Origins is such a beautiful game in general but Christ it does pop on the Vita alright. Anyone know the best place to pick up another charger? My cable has become frayed.

It's a shame that it's such a woeful game, I would avoid it or if you had the mildest interest pick it up on the PC for a few Euro.

I didn't think it was so bad, the way you've to play it to get the ending is atrious but the game itself I didn't mind it, played on PC with a friend. I just thought it was a bit ... campy? I like that kinda thing though too, Scissorman is bit like that through the series imo.
Haunting Ground is the best of them, was just talking about CW3 last night, had some great ideas but not really exicuted well I found the difficulty just spiked and couldn't explore properly.

I was listening to Caine & Rinse go through Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 the other day, lamenting the fact that I can't play them again.

    Then I remembered, the Vita!

    Playing through MGS2 right now both nostalgia filled and a littl sad that my vita had been forgotten ;_;

Can you still earn trophies with this?

Yes. I’m on 3.60 now and using a 64gb SD card.

Do you have to go back to 3.60 to use the SD Adapters? I've just used the Trinity 3.70 patch

Pretty sure you just need to downgrade the firmware, doesn’t have to be 3.60.

maybe someone can help me. I decided to bring out the vita again after a couple of months to play some games.

I was playing the PSone version of FFVII on the vita. it keeps deleting my saves. my save is still on the vita but not in the game. anyone any idea how to stop this happening or is there something with the game.

my save from playing PSone suikoden game keeps it save.

Hi folks, I'm toying with the idea of getting an Vita, pretty much only so I can play Persona 4 Golden but I understand there are a lot of other good JRPG's on it too.

Any idea what I should be expecting to pay for one? Don't want to spend much, and definitely not CeX prices, as I'm not sure how much use it'll get beyond P4. Already have a Switch for all my other handheld gaming needs.

Also read somewhere that you can mod to use SD cards so is there a specific model I need to be looking at for this or future modding tomfoolery?

If you have a PS3 you can get it on the US PSN account.

Don't have PS3. Game is showing up on the app on my regular account for €9.99 for Vita. Just need a decent bargain on a Vita first :)

Not sure if you got sorted but if you want something you can hook up to a tv you could always get a ps tv. I got one recently on adverts for 50 quid.

Try to get one with firmware 3.65 or below (ideally 3.60). I think up to 3.68 is ok, just more hassle if you want to hack it. Same FW numbers for vita.

Thinking about picking one of these up ?

    Best place to get one?

Not to sure what you can play on them, just looking to expand the collection.

    CEX or Amazon?
depends on your price range, if you've other cash converters local I'd give them a look, I got mine in a smaller chain for e110 I think in 2014 and still going.

With the news that the PSP, PS3 & Vita stores are to shut down I decided I'd hop onto the PlayStation Store on the Vita and see if there was anything decently priced that I might get. Nothing seemed to be working/purchasable though.

    Anyone else having that issue?

The store on vita has been in various states of disrepair for a good while and sony don't seem to care.

You can still access the old version of the online store here: https://store.playstation.com/en-ie/home/games?smcid=psapp

They don't update it anymore though which means no sales so the games are full price. I hope they do one big sale before they close it down but I doubt they will.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

This might be a silly question but what does the store closing actually mean? That digital only games for the VITA/PS3 will no longer be purchasable?

It will. I believe anything you have purchased should still be playable..... unless I'm mistaken. Does anyone know otherwise?

Correct, all digital purchases continue to be playable and anything purchased digitally 'should' still be available to download. The second point is yet to be clarified but should be the case, for a while anyway.

Only the store and ability to purchase games/DLC are definitely going away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,283 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Email just received to confirm you can still download games you own or you got through Plus, as long as they're in your download list on the device

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,019 ✭✭✭Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy

On that topic, anything worthwhile to get before closing? That's like rare and cheaper to get digital, that kinda stuff

I had been able to see the PS3 and Vta stores from your link but can't see anything at the moment, it just loads up the regular store. Have they cut off access early?

Edit: Bloody feckers, seems they have:

Yeah they shut that down a few days after I posted the link to it.

The store on the vita itself is meant to stay open until August but I've always found it 50/50 as to whether it would work at all.
