"dr" and "tr"

    Someone told me recently that, where either "d" or "t" is followed by "r" you dont pronounce the edit d or the t, which ever the case might be.

    I looked up some of those intro to Irish pronunciation guides on the internet but didn't see that rule. Is it a rule, can you think of any examples?

    I'm not too clear about what you mean. Do you mean when d+t+r all appear in sequence or when you just have 'tr' or 'dr'?

    I don't know of any such rule, I have to say.
    If 'd' is used as an urú on 't', 't' will be silent (dtrúig, dturas), but that has nothing to do with there being an 'r' after it.
