If you want to work off the above Galaxy bar, Argos are doing cast iron weight plates at fairly good prices.

They have a set of two 10kg weight plates for €37.50, but if you buy three sets, you get €30 off (so €82.50 for 60kg of weight plates).

They also have a set of four 5kg plates. These were also €37.50, but at some point in the last few days they fell to €30. Again, buy three sets and get €30 off (so effectively buy two, get one free). This works out at €60 for 60kg.


Check adverts/donedeal for second hand stuff and you won't get prices as good (a lot of this is delusion on the behalf of people selling, admittedly, but Argos' prices are pretty great in this regard, I'll admit).


I picked up 60kg of the 10kg plates about a fortnight ago and I'm really pleased with them. I reserved three sets of the 5kg plates to collect in Drogheda tomorrow. Really good value and shall you decide not to use them or that 'new year, new you' attitude goes out the window, they hold their value well so you'd easily enough sell them for what you paid, I'd say, down the line.
