I am currently in my 2nd month of general science in UCD , I'm miserable as I chose science over Optometry in DIT, I thought I would enjoy UCD life more, - I put the college before the course ! Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to transfer college and course within 1st semester ????

Not possible to transfer during first year, as all first year places are allocated through CAO. You have 2 options:

    1. Drop out, re-apply through CAO next year for your preferred course. As you are withdrawing from the course after the 1st of October (but before 31 Jan 2015), you're liable for 50% of the student contribution fee, and 50% of the course fees for that year. What this means is, you'll get 50% of your contribution fee back when you formally withdraw from the course. You will also be liable for 50% of the year 1 fees should you enter another undergraduate course.

    2. If the courses are relatively similar in 1st year subjects, you may be able to transfer after completing the year. I'd say this is unlikely with something as specialised as Optometry. You'd be best clarifying if this is an option with DIT admissions office, though.

I will look into advanced entry options for next year as there is an overlap in modules, thanks so much for your advice
