Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is planning required to widen driveway where footpath already dished?

    Hi,
When our house (part of an estate) was built 10+ years ago I noted that due to shape of the site our front area would consist of the cobble lock driveway plus a narrow strip of grass. Rather than have to maintain this grass I asked that the full drive be cobble locked, which the developer duly did.
Our front garden is open plan with no front wall, and no boundary fence was moved. The footpath was already dished the full width of our property front so no change there either. The only change was the conversion of the 2 feet of grass to cobble.

Should this change have required planning permission? Selling now and some questions have arisen.

    Regards
    Albob

Hard to tell by the post.
    Can you post a picture?

It’s worth noting any alteration of a vehicular entrance requires planning.
Changing of the inside finish may not require planning but there was a recent SI that ruled anything over 50% of the area to the front of the property requires planning.

    Hi,
I have attached 2 images that reflect the changes, essentially replacing grass with cobble lock. I don't know what the with of the grass would have been at the footpath but probably 1 to 2 feet.

(Black area in original drive is cobble lock...image creation was a bit messed up)

You would have to look at the original planning permission/original planning drawings for the estate and see what that shows.
