Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As per title, assuming you had the money, can anyone with a horse place it with O' Brien. I only ever see his horses with all the same colours and owners( magnier,tabor,smith......JP with his jump horses....and fitri hay with Fame and Glory.) Does he not just accept horses from syndicates or other owners or is the funds required to do so far too high?

He gets sent upwards of 250 yearlings every year and takes his pick. He doesn't need any Joe soap owners, stable boxes are a commodity there.

He is the retained trainer for Coolmore at Ballydoyle therefore he is retained to train only Coolmore horses. You would need to go through Coolmore to get a spot and there is fat chance of that, maybe if you had 25% of a horse with Tabor, Magnier and Joe Lewis you might get it. Just don't do an Alex Ferguson on it.

Now if he were to leave Coolmore you might* get a horse in with him down in Piltown but at the moment he has only JP's horses in that yard.

*might = only slightly slimmer version of fat chance.

Yes its a private operation in terms of who they train for. And in fairness they've so many horses of their own bred in the purple that they probably couldn't manage outside owners. There are many other fine flat trainers in Ireland. Oxx, Weld and Bolger to name three. They're as good as you'd get anywhere in the world.
