Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I came across this while reading The Immortal Game: A History of Chess by David Shenk which I highly recommend if you want to read about chess without having to bang your head on table over a Nimzowitsch tome. This one took me a full twenty minutes to solve. Even though some of the rules were different a millennium ago, the rook, king, pawn, and knight moved in the same way so any ancient puzzles using only those pieces are still relevant today.

I think I have it so its ok if I post it? Here goes, so look away now if you don't want to see the solution!

Knight to a4 check. It has to be taken by the rook. Then rook kills the knight, check, again the king in this case has to take the rook. Finally rook to d3 mate.

I hope thats it and yes it's pretty good alright!
