Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Absolutely Disgusting to hear senator Neale Richmond (FG) whinge and moan on RTÉ just now about how he’s being short changed as a senator compared to his friends.

    €66K MINIMUM.

Don’t forget the smorgasbord of expenses and entitlements to add on.

    What the hell?

Poor show of a salary alright. Could barely rent in Dublin.

Was he elected or appointed? Did he know the salary before he took the gig? Is the Seanad as generous with the old unvouched expenses as the Dail is?

Appointed or elected by the privileged.

Elected. 36 years old and complaining like a bould child that 66k MINIMUM isn’t good enough for him

An FG West brit - it's a disgrace he has any position in public life at all.

He actually was saying he’d been unemployed for significant periods before he got the senate job

But still was whinging and complaining about his salary there.

    The sheer brazen entitlement.

Says a lot about his background and privilege- shows the power of the right connections and a private school education in that his mid 30s peers are likely in salaries well above €66k and he thinks everyone else must be the same level

    Remember, 66k is before tax.

Calculate it the Sinn Fein way and its less than the average industrial wage.

    About 45k after tax.

(sf took the gross av ind wage and took it as a net payment on their infamous "our Td's will only take av ind wage)

Was it o’snaudigh that ‘used’ a hundred year supply of printer cartridges in lieu of salary?

Thread about a FG senator whinging about a 60k salary for what is a part time gig becomes a rant about SF. lol.

    What a plonker.

He seems to have a high profile position for a senator, dealing with Brexit a lot. Is he running in a constituency in the next general election?

In fairness we all pay massive tax out of our gross so much so that there’s now barely any correlation between the two. This was something FG said they’d tackle but made only token gestures so far- such is the pressure the state finances are continuously under

I looked into this guy and he is very much a layabout. No jobs of any note before somebody appointed him to public office. Get rid.

I thought as much - if he’s that disappointed with the salary maybe he should **** off and utilise his considerable skills to get more elsewhere. Oh sorry I forgot he’s a ****ing waster who wouldn’t get a job stocking shelves in his local Tesco.

66k isn’t that great a basic wage. There’d be plenty of people his age in offices around D2 and D4 making far more than it.

They should make him Ambassador to the Commonwealth or something.

Seriously, I never listened to so much 'poor me' whinging from a politician before about salary and everything else.

Send him to Kenya as hes so fond of the commonwealth and see how much they thinks hes worth for being a rugger bugger who went to a private school.

Pity about him, TDs might get a lot of criticism but they have to go out and actually get elected but this fella didn't have to do any of that so it's a bit much to hear him mouthing off about the salary he's on.

We had our chance to get rid of this undemocratic gravey train but unfortunately the voters hadn't the bottle to consign it to history.

You know what those people in the offices would have to do though? Pay to make their own way to the office. Pay to have their suits cleaned, or shock horror, clean them themselves. When you factor in the expenses, the wage is quite good.

'Tis a pittance for sure, would nearly have to rough it in a secluded cabin without electricity or running water.

Not even a parking bay for the Lexus.

He was very good when he was wheeled out on Brexit, if a bit wooden and by the book, The type of automatons FG seem to turn out.

I checked his LinkedIn profile and he’s a career politician who probably expected to be higher up the chain and further along the gravy train by now.

Wonder if he’d do better in the private sector.

I had a look too- connections and who you know the whole way. I thought he had studied Law but turns out he has a pointless BA from UCD in History. Quite a good outcome considering how useless his degree is

I wouldn’t underestimate a BA, particularly in History, a decent result and he’d be a prime candidate for a graduate scheme in the likes of Accenture.

I agree with your general point though.

After the few weeks FG have had, and the explosive mess by Maria Bailey on the radio, you'd wonder at the actual intelligence to go on that entitlement rant on the national airwaves. Is there any joined up thinking going on in FG.

Johnny Bravo is a FG cheerleader, so that represents a convenient blind spot. He would defend an inanimate brick if it was attached to his party.
