Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there a splash screen at startup with a name on any of your boxes?

The stock image started up with a H96 pro+ image in gold and then switched to an MBOX logo

Will do when I get home from work. Only other thing to note this that the stock rom has malware on it - I think the application is called wireless update - and it’ll screw up the stock rom. You can just delete it if you haven’t run it yet but advisable to run malware bytes anyway.

Got mine today. Got hit with revenue. Great machine though. Just curious how to delete wireless update? And how do you run malware bytes? Any help appreciated.

Just go to settings then apps installed look for the wireless update click and uninstall it.

You can download malware bytes off the play store.
Download it and run and see how it gets on.

With great help by Clemop (thanks man!) I managed to change the OS on my H96 Pro+ to Android, and what can i say ...WOW!!

It's now identical to my Nvidia Shield and the speed, slickness and performance of this little beauty now for €40 is just mind boggling.

My dislike for the stock Launcher took the goodness out of it when I first got it, but it's like I've a new box now.

I've had many boxes and systems throughout the past few years and I very rarely rave about anything, but this Android Box is the real deal lads and I wouldn't recommend unless 100% sure.
Even at the current price of around $65 it's gonna be worth it.

I've thrown everything at it and it doesn't break a sweat.
And for IPTV it's outperforming boxes that are triple the price.

    So all good. :)

It's down to personal preference I suppose, but the new ROM really elevates the experience and slickness of the box for me, and at no expense to performance (well none found so far)

    Here what it's like....

    Kenny,
The guide for the ROM specifically says it does.
I've not tried it mind, but would be very surprised if it did not.

    PM sent

You won't get 4k Netflix anyway. Possibly not HD or 5.1 audio either

    Good idea!

I've PM all the requests for instructions, but maybe your guide will be easier for some as it doesn't require a usbA to usbA cable, and can be achieved via SD card.

So with a bit of luck the thread will be allowed and folk will have two options.

Updating firmware is not against the rules. Just dont talk about the certain apps. Open a new thread in Android forum.

Will it be obsolete when android moves on?
Like it was with mx3 4k boxes.
No update after 4.4.2 do couldn't avail of kodi 17.
    Zero support online.
    Very frustrated with it.
Use it now for streaming android apps.

Why would customs want to cull this box?

That's all android devices. Even the very expensive Nexus / Pixel phones only receive updates for a certain period of time.

Lots of roms available for this box at freaktab.com. I initially tried to update the rom via sdcard but wiped the bootloader because I hadn't read the instructions properly as usual. I've used USB burning tool since then and had no issues.
    So far I've tried :
Android TV 7.12 = pretty slick but not nuts about the interface, especially the settings
    Generic Android 7.1.2 = meh
Dual boot Libreelec from the SDCard = fine if you just want kodi but the lack of repo for the OS is a dealbreaker
Android TV 6.x based on MIBox = my favorite rom so far, slicker interface, rooted, built in file server

And after all that I've decided to stick to a raspberry pi3 running OSMC

They wouldn’t. My reference earlier to the ‘custom cull’ was just to let people know that they were exposed to the potential of import duty at this price point. That said, I’m sure the guys down there are not thick; size and weight of these boxes are all in and around the same so they’d be easily spotted. That said, I did say there is massive volume coming in from Asia so it’s only a small minority that’ll be nabbed.

Tinder, fair play on all the PMs. You should just start a thread as previously suggested in the AF detailing the ROM install. :)
