Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sure, I suppose they've got to shift the stuff before Lent.

Yet they are associated with Operation Transformation. Some clash of ideals there really.

They're made by the same company, but I think it was the Operation Transformation sign that shot2go was pointing out :D

Yeah, it really is all rubbish. Pity they don't have a special on meats or something. Lidl/Aldi have great offers on fruit & veg, but not a big fan of their meat.

Eh the offer today is the fingers of the Omega Three fish.
    That ain't junk.

Omega or not, it's still fish fingers... Not exactly considered healthy surely?

I think Aldi lamb is GREAT - the shoulders of lamb and the legs of lamb; really tasty, as good as any butcher!

Must admit to never having a butcher's shoulder or leg, so I'll take your word for it! ;)

Their steaks are also quite class tasting.

We've strayed a long way from Dunnes offers, lads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,404 ✭✭✭✭vicwatson

    Fair point.

I think a better deal is Aldi's 10 x COD fish fingers @1.49 than the Dunnes 10 x Pollock "Omega" fingers that are on sale today

Fish fingers...another thing people wouldnt eat if they seen them made.

Just happened to be near Dunnes today so popped in to get some fish. I got three items in the shop in total and when I read the receipt afterwards it said two of the three items I had purchased were from Irish producers - I had milk, a loaf of bread and the fresh fish from the butchers counter - the bread and milk were listed as being from Irish producers but the fish wasn't!!

It was only hake, nothing exotic and ffs we live on an island???

Heard them advertising cadburys drinking chocolate and some sort of healthy cereal bars. Both priced at €1

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

Those cereal bars are anything but healthy, people need to read the ingredients before buying them.

The amount of sugar and carbohydrates in all the breakfast cereals would make your blood curl. Some of them are like 75% carbs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,191 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Was in my local Dunnes at 9:30pm tonight and seen them stocking the deal shelf with 1 litre bottles of Lucozade, no price though.

Is that a tongue in cheek comment ? What else would you expect to be in cereal except mainly carbs? Porridge is 65% carbs.

Looks like a 12 pack of Natures Valley bars in the picture but the small print says 5

All the supplies you need for your party.

Wine and beer to kick things off.
Pringles to nibble on while the hot food (wedges and garlic bread) cook in the oven.
Dying the following morning, you have a fry (sausages, rashers, pudding) with Lucozade.
Come the afternoon, horse into the Snickers/Mars/Oreos with a can of Coke to bring up the sugar level.

If only they had air fresheners for the toilet the following morning! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭GrumPy

    All so healthy, too! :pac:
