Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Phantom hitchhiker stories in Ireland?

I have read plenty of accounts of phantom hitchhiker stories from other countries. Probably two of the best known are that of 'Resurrection Mary' in Chicago and the Uniondale hitchhiker in South Africa. The latter centres around a tragedy that occurred near the town of Uniondale, Cape Province in 1968 when a newly engaged couple, Maria Roux and Giel Pretorious, were involved in a car accident. Giel survived but Maria sadly died in the accident. According to local legend, Maria's ghost haunted the road for years afterwards, disappearing for good when her former fiance Giel died in a car crash in the mid 80s.

Does anybody know of any Irish phantom hitchhiker stories? I have heard of a story about ghostly figures from the time of the famine haunting a stretch of road in County Wicklow near Blessington lakes and Poulaphouca.
