    Hey there,

Can anyone tell me what kind of range/model of a MF tractor I could be looking out for, would need to be 80-90 HP, around 10 years old or so,

    thanks

MF 4245 but they're a little light IMO. Push up to 4255 and you have a great multi purpose tractor

Cheers, the 4255 seems more popular anyway, never see to many 4245's for sale. Looking to get a tidy machine like that over the next few months

The MF 4200 series (4245 & 4255 are the 80 - 90 hp models) were maufactured from around 1998 to 2001 / 02. The 4200 series was replaced with the 4300 series from 02-04 when they were replaced with the current 5400 series of tractors.

The 4200 & 4300 series tractors are basically the same tractor. There were some minor changes in the cab most notably was the change from the long gear stick mounted from the floor in the 4200 series to a shorter gear stick mounted on the side consol on the 4300 series. I think maybe the exhaust stack on the 4300 series was moved to the side by the cab for a clear view where on the the 4200 series they are monuted centrally on the bonnet.

As a yard stick I was told previously that the 4245 model was equivalent to an older 390 whereas the 4255 was the equivalent to a 390T.

As far as I know there were no HP changes in the 4200 to the 4300 series. On the 5400 series from 04 onwards the same series numbers recieved a 10HP increase i.e. the 5445 is 90HP and the 5455 is 100.

There shouldn't be any difference in weight between the 4245 & 4255 as I said above they are same tractor just a different turdo & wastegate for the extra HP.
