If you are a post primary teacher, do you move up on the salary scale every year even if you are not in the same position?

For example, if you cover a maternity leave in your first year of teaching do you still move up the salary scale at the start of year 2?

Hope this question makes sense, as I am clueless

When subbing you move up an increment every 600 hours you teach. If you are CID, second RPT then every year.

So you move up from your second or third year onwards?

Yes, you will up every year if you have RPT/CID.

Well you can still move up without a CID, e.g. you could do a one year contract in one school, and then get a job in another school the following year, and then a third school the next year, and if you have completed the 600 hours criteria then you would move up each year. It's not dependent on having a CID. Those with a CID in primary school are going to be on full hours so they would automatically move up each year.

You move up each year if you are on a contract that pays for the holidays, regardless of hours. One hour a week RPT would get you an increment. The 600 hours is only for hourly paid work.
