Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Classroom Keys

I started in a new school this year. To date I have yet to receive any keys and I have been relying on other teachers to lock/unlock the doors for me or borrowing their keys. I know my subject co-ordinator has briefly mentioned it to management but so far hasn't gotten anywhere. It’s a bit frustrating at this point as I can’t help students who come to me looking for the key to get something or I’m waiting around trying to find another teacher to either get the keys from them or give them back. Make me feel like I’m a student teacher again and not really fully part of the staff.

I’m conscious of not rocking the boat as I’ve only started in the school, but what’s the best route to go in trying to get my own set of key?
It’s not as simple as getting them cut myself as they are specialist keys.

Pop into the person who’s in charge of handing out keys. Use the secret phrase ‘Hi. I need a key. May I please have a key?’

    Job done.

Ask a member of management once every week when you’ll be getting your keys. Keep it simple.

Been there. Wore the T-shirt. Other teachers start not wanting to lend you their keys. Caretaker avoiding you. Management not having a set themselves or not wanting you to get your own copies. My heart genuinely goes out to you.

It’s such a pain, I genuinely can’t understand how some schools don’t have a start up pack with these kind of necessities ready to go for new teachers and subs coming in during the year. Keys and computer login details. The basics!

Have you asked management for keys or are you expecting someone in your department to do it?
