So, it turns out that you have to buy a weekend camping ticket and a separate campervan ticket. The weekend camping ticket is €170...and the campervan ticket is another €80...!? WTF?! Campervan owners clean up after themselves and don't leave tents and ****e behind. Ridiculous pricing.

But is not just 80 per campervan? so if you have four people it would only cost 20 each

So this is basically a new type of Oxegen festival, although the lineup is definitely more indie based than mainstream, the reason I say this is that Bitch Falcon posted it on Facebook and it said MCD Presents. This could also feck up sales for Body&Soul which happens the weekend after.

It's a hard rock/metal festival, Body and Soul is not. Never forget the reaction to Gary Numan doing a full on industrial set there, the festival Honeys didn't know what to make of it.

Heh. I always wondered how old Numan done at a festival like that. 90% of the crowd showing up for Cars and hearing Gary blast over an hour of his - brilliant - "it's the 90s and I've listened to The Downward Spiral" music.

True. I'm going on my own though. The fact is, campervan fields are, generally speaking, spotless after a festival so there's less overheads involved in clean up afterwards.

Some good stuff but a Lot of padding / mediocre filler bands on both days

Reminds me of most of the so so muck.on scuzz tv from ten years ago

Anyone hearing and rumblings or other potential acts struggling to convince myself to spend over 150 quid to see gojira, the hu and at the gates when they've all played smalled clubs here recently anyways.

I tried to get into Deftones but they sound so boring to me, I think they only are popular because people listen to them stoned and everything sounds better when drunk or stoned. I will be at Download Festival that afternoon enjoying Skillet.

That has to be a windup...... Also what happened to download being too full of "hipsters" change you're tune on that one?

Eh no. Listen to the first 3 albums. If that dosen't grab your attention nothing will. Start with the first, Adrenaline, see if that's boring.

Deftones are unique they cover a wide range of styles and are pretty experimental album to album but they keep their sound easily traced back to them, once you hear the like of Skillet are a Christian rock band you know before you hit play its going to be easily digestible American radio rock, nothing wrong with that of course but to me I know which I'd tire of quicker. :)

More bands being announced at 5 today, do we reckon any ticket shifters or just filler?

Complete guesses : Steel Panther, Incubus (probably too big/expensive), Jimmy Eat World, Therapy, Stiff Little Fingers.

Maybe add killswitch engage, the darkness and possibly alter bridge

  • Registered Users Posts: 600 ✭✭✭DepecheHead101

Yeah, they're all plausible shouts. Killswitch are doing Download, and Steel Panther and Alter Bridge will also probably end up doing it. Darkness had sold out shows here recently (the Cork one was, at least) and are on somewhat of a minor upswing in terms of their novelty appeal.

Incubus would be cool... hopefully on Sunday, since I have committed

You can fit a handful of tents and a dozen people in the space of 1 campervan though, it's expensive but campervan tickets have basically always sold out at festivals so they're going to keep charging a premium

About as good as you could have reasonably hoped for. Those top few bands flesh it out very nicely indeed.

We've got ourselves a metal festival.

Deftones and Sepultura on Sunday... awwww yeah

Funny story about The Distillers, well, Brodi anyway.

Think it was around 2005/6 and i was at Donington, had a backstage pass, now it was a bog standard pass, no access to bands dressing room areas.

At end of the night was drinking with a couple of mates, one of whom is my oldest pal from school and is very big in the rock scene in uk, he had a mate with him who i never knew, this mate said fcuk this, we'll go to the free bar, he had an AAA pass and could escort 3 others through.

We went into the band area, Brodi was sat outside her dressing room so i got a beer and sat down, she was completely and utterly twisted, crying constantly saying that Josh hadn't called while one of her crew kept reminding her of time zones. Glad she seems to have cleaned herself up.

Also a few minutes later Steve-O and Pontius totally trashed Electric Six's dressing room which was amusing to watch

They've definitely got the bands anyway. Hopefully they can pull the rest of it together.

I got FnM tickets for Manchester on the Wed before, first night of tour, was gonna do that instead on sunstroke, probably do both now. Will get Sunstroke tickets, put them in envelope and which says To Scud, From Santa

Wifey can't get mad without spoiling the santa thing for mini scud

Alter Bridge, Airbourne and Tempt announced to support Iron Maiden in Belsonic which is the Monday after Sunstroke so i hope AB + Airbourne fly into Dublin a day or two before to visit Punchestown

Doesn't say more to be announced on the poster anymore so this could be it, any word on how ticket sales are going?

I'm surprised Therapy? aren't on that bill...

If there's three stages each day, I reckon they'll have to add more to the bill.

Think they messed up badly by not having Maiden headline instead of playing Belfast twice on same tour. Would have drawn a bigger crowd.

Availability would mean they couldn't. Download saturday so that's the sunday ruled out. Seems they're aiming at a level below that though, but maybe that'll change in the future

Yea exactly, it looks like they are gonna start small and build up the festival which is good instead of going straight for the larger headliners.

Feels odd saying that when both bands are headlining the major French metal festival that sells 55k tickets before a band is announced. Will be interesting to see if itll grow and get major headliners. I can see Alice in Chains doing this one of the years

What french metal festival is selling 55k tickets before an act is announced? France is a great spot for festivals.

I plan on driving to this - is there a carpark nearby, or will there a 'park & ride' thing? I'll be driving from the south.

I assume they will have parking on site... like Oxegen did back in the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,580 ✭✭✭Thundercats Ho

The later years of Oxegen had park and ride from Goffs, near Kill. It was around 10-15 mins in the shuttle bus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,096 ✭✭✭Jofspring

Was there for AC/DC and Bon Jovi and they had a decent sized car park for both.

It's less!! (at least without camp for weekend)

Just chalked myself in this...this morn paid €130 in an outlet for weekend without camping that's bout 20 quid more than gen ad for Guns!!

Defo the right choice to start off with sizeable acts rather than the mega as heads imo, tough to gage appetite for this sort of thing that people have claimed is the case for years if Maiden as suggested were a headliner for example. We'll see hopefully it's a success.

i am hoping to do the following

    sunstroke both days....
    maiden belfast (have ticket already)
graspop metal festival (seriously thinking of going)
guns n roses (have ticket already)

    all in june!
