Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/ps5-stock-uk-big-playstation-5-restock-report-for-argos-game-and-smyths/ar-BB1g34tP

Summary - April to be in short supply - but Argos, Game and Amazon due to have thousands in May (UK sites).

Useful is it includes some tips on how best to get one before the site crashes (below) - that might help also with the Irish equivalent sites:

Here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. GAME is currently expected to get its next major restock during May 2021.

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings. Argos is not expected to receive any more stock until May 11.

I’m not sure when the preorders were live it was saying something along the lines of

“Preorder now Expected in stock: 30th to 7th May”

I’d imagine the above dates will change shortly

managed to pre order at 8am today,
    got an email confirming,

then about 1pm money was gone from the account and I had an email to say my console was ready for dispatch and given a dpd tracker.

if I'm lucky I'll get it tomorrow

Anyone else who got one Thursday still stuck with "Your parcel is travelling through the DPD network"?. Heard a lot of people would be expecting them today, raging I'll probably be waiting till Tuesday now

My sister ordered one for her little fella on Thursday (pre ordered) and she is seeing the exact same message!?

Then a good mate of mine got one yesterday and yet his is in his hand now!? WTF!!

Is there a difference between the pre order of Thursday and yesterday some how?

    Cheers,
    M

Shouldn't be any difference, I would have thought the staggered stock drop was so they could take care of Thursday first and then be free to handle Friday's. So strange that someone who ordered yesterday would have their's as DPD should have picked up Thursday's batch already?

With previous orders deliveries were made over a couple of days. I guessed at the time that it was based on location but I don’t know

According to their facebook page they are offering click n collect starting tomorrow. You could ask if they have any if you are in collecting something else. As for when you will be able to drop into a store and pick a ps5 off the shelf its very hard to say.

What kind of voucher is it?

It’s a smyths gift voucher. Had I known when I bought it that you can’t use it for pre ordering I wouldn’t have got it! It was a Christmas present.

    That's a joke.

Complete joke. When I purchased the voucher in store in December for €500 I asked the sales person about purchasing the console online and they said it could and never mentioned pre ordering is excluded. A Lot of money to be spending on a voucher not be mentioning it.

You bought yourself a voucher to use to buy a ps5?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,917 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

But you aren't pre ordering. It's out now. I'd kick up a fuss. At least get the 500 put back on your card so you can buy it.

    No I didn’t buy myself a voucher to buy a PS5 !!!!!! I bought it for a family member as a Christmas present .

I used my gift cards to buy my ps5 fine. As was said it's not on preorder anymore. You also can't use them to buy the digital games / PSN stuff using gift cards.

Hopefully it will work so when they go on sale again . When did you buy your PS5 with your voucher?

    22nd of April.

    Just seeing this now.

People were able to ring into Argos this morning and get reservation numbers for PS5s.

Details of specific stores here: https://twitter.com/ps5_ireland

Be worth keepin an eye tomorrow morning for more click and collect stock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

Argos live now apparently, check the ps5 twitter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

    All gone now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,976 ✭✭✭Brendog

Does anyone know what the story is? Tried multiple sites (Currys, Smythes, Amazon etc.) but they all seem to be advertising it. No option to pre-order.

Stock is coming in for June so I'm guessing its first click first served.

    Anyone have new info?

Can't answer your question but just in case you didn't know, there's a dedicated thread in the PS subforum.

Unfortunately a lot of stores are just going to go first come, first server after the console has been released.

It isn't going to get any easier, supply drought apparently into 2022 and thats with them considering a re-design to make it easier to build.

Would suggest anyone interested keep an eye on the PS5 twitter and jump on the opportunity when it comes to it.
