I have a student son receiving the PUP as his employer is hospitality and won't be open when he finishes the college year in mid May.

There is a possibility of getting office work for a couple months of the summer break which would be good experience. The PUP may not still be there when the stint ends but if it is would he be entitled to claim again?

The PUP is a lifesaver for many but for some students, it's a deterrent to getting some valuable work experience.

The PUP is an emergency payment to help those that lost jobs as a result of the pandemic. He'd not be entitled to it unless he lost his new job because of it.

However, as you said there is little chance it will be kept beyond end of June, imo.
