Fantastic performance from Australia yesterday in Dubai. Caught the last 10 overs, exciting stuff that Test Match format!

Far better than the shorter formats. Sadly losing its appeal in this age of instant gratification and lack of attention span.

To squeeze 5 days full play, plus an extra half hour to try and get a result. Fantastic.

Disappointing news about Jayasuriya. He's been charged with not cooperating with an anti corruption investigation.

Thats not good news, international cricket can ill afford that and I always thought he was a gentleman. Clearly there is no smoke without fire here and it reminds me of Hansie Cronje

Thats terrible to hear about Jayasuriya, always liked him but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth

One of the better run outs you'll ever see for sheer levels of incompetence, as Pakistan seal their biggest ever runs victory against Australia in the 2nd and final test!

I'll most likely end up with egg on my face as per, but I just got 5/6 with Ladbrokes on Pakistan to win todays t20....Smashed em the other day, might be a case the Aussies are low on confidence after that.

Or as my luck usually goes, Finch will score 134 not out on the way to setting Pakistan 256 to win.

EDIT: Well, Pakistan are batting first, so that won't be the case anyway. A repeat of Wednesday please, Cricket Gods.

Pakistan has won its 11th successive T20 series win in a row. That’s crazy given the youth in their team and they rarely play at home.

England's batting line up for the first Sri Lanka test looks extremely unbalanced, after the openers you have Root as the only specialist batsman really. Moeen at 3, Stokes and Buttler at 5 and 6. The new keeper is doing well enough though at 7.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

Standard innings for England so far.

100 odd for 5 and then they get to 300.
They cannot keep batting like this though.

Trent Boult becomes only third New Zealand bowler to get a hat trick in a ODI.

The virtual Trent Boult came close a couple times against me on Ashes Cricket for the PS4

Australia struggled to a win against South Africa in the second ODI. Aussie commentators proclaiming that this is the turning point. Not so sure myself as both teams were poor. But a win’s a win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,158 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Stokes being tried at 3 for the next test now, can't see that having much affect on their flimsy top order.

Good series win for England today over Sri Lanka, first series win there since 01.

It was a great performance over the two matches. SL is not playing great but you still have to win, and winning away in SL is not easy.

Pakistan inching towards a First Test Match victory against New Zealand. Need 139 to win at 37-0 at start of Day 4.

And collapse to lose by 4 runs - remarkable performance by NZ.

God, I'm so cynical with anything to do with Pakistan Cricket. Cynical hat off it was a fantastic turnaround.

New Zealand seal 2-1 Test Series win versus Pakistan.

    Quote from Wisden on twitter:

"In 2018, there have been more Test wins by a margin of 50 or fewer runs (4) than in any other calendar year in history. The format has arguably never been more exciting".

Great to see the longer form of the game continuing to be relevant.

Shai Hope is some cool dude. 146* today as an opener, West Indies chased 256. Second top score was 27, they needed 32 from the last 3 overs, got it off 49.4. Series is tied at 1-1, first win of the tour for West Indies.

Could spend all day watching West Indies batsmen striking the ball all over the park. Unfortunately, their bowling and fielding needs to catch up.

Will be interesting to see if England can compete with them on the tour in the short form of the game.

Hope made another ton, the rest failed again. 198-9 in 50. Hope 108* second highest 19.

Aus v Ind series shaping up nicely, India leading 1-0 after a 31 run win in Adelaide. Onto the 2nd test in Perth on a nippy deck, 2nd day tonight with Aus looking to get to around 300 with their first innings. Both teams diminished with notable absentees, however, it's still a good contest. Live on BT Sport

Fantastic contest between Indian batsmen and Aussie bowlers. Runs at a premium but buckets of patience being shown by India.

Then Pujara nicks one down the leg side......oh dear.

Always an annoying way to get out. India could fall in a hole here, the tail collapsed last week in the second innings, lost the last 5 for 25.

Didn't fall in a hole, Kohli and Rahane still there. 3-170 odd.

best and worst of Kohli this test, superb innings but truly horrid selections which he has his hands all over.

Yadav ahead of Jadeja and Bhuvi a horrific call when you look at the pitch and other lower order batsman.

Two interesting things about the 2018 Big Bash League.

The bat flip replaces the coin toss. Hands up those who remember it?

And the continued emergence of Sandeep Lamichhane. Nepal’s 18 year old legspinner took 2 wickets in his first over in the competition. Great article about him on cricket.com.au for anyone interested.

Thought England were labouring a bit against the Windies earlier, but with 6 wickets down for 250 it's turned into England's day with 5 overs still to bowl

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 77,497 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

And it's turned into a great day for England - 264-8

Of course, we've not seen England bat yet!

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭gavinoontheweb

Notwithstanding that late day collapse, it was nice to see the differing styles of Windies batting today. Chase and Braithwaite digging out 40's and the expansive styles of young Campbell and Hetmyer, along with the ever impressive Shai Hope. I really hope this series brings the best of Windies batting something that test cricket has lacked in the last while

Jaysus! Just tuned in to see we have now - well 8 wickets-worth for 73 runs. Curran to be the saviour yet again?? Here's hoping!!

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 77,497 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Put the kybosh on Curran there

Guess they only need another 17 to avoid the follow-on, with Anderson facing:eek:

England are chasing 628, Holder got 202*, no wickets have fallen today

England going to knock this off easy. :P

Masterstroke selecting 2 spinners and then only bowling one for 9 nine overs. Rashid will be fresh for the easy run chase now.

Bring back Atherton - this situation is made for him (well it was 23 years ago anyway)

Hang on! We've got 3 wicketkeepers, and are only using one of them also:P

Another poor day with the bat and a pretty mundane pitch, not looking good for the upcoming ashes, they really need to win the next 2 to make any sort of case, especially with the Ozzies making much shorter work of Sri Lanka than England did, granted they are at home, but still.

A century from Curran and England could find themselves back in the game....

  • Administrators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 77,497 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Beasty

Oh Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy - why oh why could you not stick around while Sam got those additional 87 runs:(

Just need to bowl them out for 12 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 157 ✭✭gavinoontheweb

Chuffed for the Windies winning this series, hopefully they can keep this XI together interesting to see if they can keep this up overseas. Proper batting from the openers showing the English how to play on these decks. A special mention also to young Alzarri Joseph who lost his mother just hours before today's play, coming out taking crucial wickets and catches. And Jason Holder well, he is just marvellous what a captain between his energy and use of reviews, a true leader.
