Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Entries opened this morning, I think? Has anyone registered? Online registrations are either full or suspended, I can't tell which. Anyone know what's going on?

Looks like they have made it a ballot entry now

"Due to the extremely fast selling nature of the event we have decided the fairest way to handle entries is by operating a ballot system"

glad it wasn't just me, I wonder did anyone get registered today? I've entered the ballot anyway so fingers crossed, I need something to keep me training through Christmas

Well....did anyone get an e-mail yet :pac:

Great race but they need to sort this out asap

I am in the ballot. Would be my fourth year to do it. If I get an entry great if not ah well. It's a great race run by volunteers and would hate for it to go the Same way as ballycotton.

It's a very good race but I decided to opt for Trim instead, less hassle:)

Was torn myself and have done Trim before, but for me the t-shirt is the deciding factor :) . The t-shirt from Trim is just awful. Worth driving to Dungarvan from Dublin as an alternative :D

I still haven't got an entry, despite a few of my friends getting them even though the entered later than me (WTF!).

Anymore entries going around here, please let me know as I would appreciate it.

A friend of mine was entering me as was away on hols last week, when he messaged me about the website fiasco didn't expect to get in but turned out all of the group he was entering made it. Guess we were lucky.

Really wanted to do this. It came highly recommended from other people in our club.
Registered for ballot but no joy so if any one that got lucky changes their mind I would gladly take it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,071 ✭✭✭julyjane

I got an email today just after 4pm :)

I reckon Primo monumentally fu*ked this one up. Ballot system is fine except many people will put in duplicate entries if there isn't a system to deter it. I imagine this is what happened here hence the entries are still coming out.

Hope it still sells out though

Trim 10 mile is on the same day folks, might not suit some but plenty travel from far a field to Dungarvan every year. Great race also.

I would really like an entry to this too. If there’s another one going spare can you send me a PM - thanks a mill.

Hi all. Transfers up until midnight Friday 11/1/19 for this event. I have an entry, but have been having a bit of a mare getting back running after being injured for most of the last year. Making progress now, but have admitted to myself that I’m not going to make this race. So one entry up for grabs if anyone is looking.

I only realised today that this is on at 1.30pm- for some reason I had it in my head that it was at 9 or 10am.

what would you eat that morning and at what time? at least with the later start I might still be around when Genoa opens.

one more question, what are the showers like? I live maybe half an hour away so it might be quicker to just go home and shower

Two experiences of showers. First got into the early and they were perfect. Nice and warm.

Last year hung around a bit at the finish line for a little bit and they were stone cold.

The showers are in the leisure centre where the race hq is and I think the women's ones are in the boxing club.

Yeah, it's always a tricky one alright, I normally don't eat before morning races.

For me, I'll have a tub of porridge with syrup or jam at around 10:00 before I leave home. After that just keep sipping water, maybe a banana an hour before the race starts.

Nice to get the number in the post :pac:

Not in great shape at the minute unfortunately - had a fekker of a virus over Christmas/New Years which took ages to get over, and then my hip flexor flared up last week.....so basically very little quality or quantity in my training of late.

Am hoping that my pre-Xmas training stands to me now, although not confident of beating last year's time (65:xx)

Is there any way at all to get an entry at this late stage? Or is it basically impossible now?

Nope,Unless you manage to obtain a number from a registered entrant but you wont be running under your own name(tranfers were officially allowed up to the 11th of January) but to be fair & honest that is something that is largely frowned upon & can play havoc with results & again also if God forbid something were to happen to you & your details were incorrect,I'll leave the rest up to your own imagination.

There are still a few entries available for Mallow, another good fast 10 mile race that is also a well organised club event

Any locals able to offer weather updates/predictions for Sunday??

Preparations have gone pretty disastrously for me - struggling with a cold/manflu and work busy as well so only ran twice in the last fortnight. There's no way I'd be considering this race if I hadn't already paid for it :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 341 ✭✭sann

Any recommendation on best place to park tomorrow from someone who has ran it before

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭djemba djemba

Another excellent race yesterday. Top class t-shirt too.

Thanks to all the volunteers. Some spread in the hall afterwards. Dungarvan is a lovely town. Hope to be back next year for the 5th time.

Also a brilliant day as I went sub 60 for the first time, but even if I hadn't the above would still be true.

great day, no trouble with parking and well run event. Earlier in the week I was whinging about the "no headphones" rule but the organisers were 100% right, regularly a shout went up that there was a car or wheelchair coming and the roads were narrow in many places. Looking forward to next year already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,714 ✭✭✭Cartman78

Fantastic event - I had a bit of a shocker after a dire few weeks of training but the organisation and atmosphere of this race are second to none

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,027 ✭✭✭opus

For sure, it's no wonder it sells out so quickly every year. Positively balmy conditions this year but the frigid showers in the sports hall made up for it :)

I readjusted my goal accordingly as my only run in the previous week was the new parkrun in Mallow cause of a dose of something but regardless really enjoyed the day.
