Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

temp here has after fallen from 5C, back to 4C.

From what I can see there is very little snow falling over Ulster. Lots of sleet there but it's turning back towards rain in some places for now.

I don't think it's due to turn to snow until about 8pm or so.

Current DPs. Need to be dropping a bit I think in the areas expecting snow. Nice contrast through the country.

If this rain has turned to snow up north, they're in for a good evening

The Met Éireann midnight aviation chart gives the same snow chance as it has for 1800, i.e. widespread rain/drizzle, but occasional snow north of 54N.

Rain at 6 pm has now turned to snow at 7 pm at the North's highest station, Lough Fea (225 m). 14 cm lying snow there, temp 0.3, dp 0.1, wet bulb 0.2. Glennane (160 m) still reporting rain (temp 1.2, dp 0 9, wet bulb 1.1)

Looking mostly like Norsleet at 1940, plenty of hilly terrain compared to the midlands for some white

Proper snowing here in NW as well. Surely the overnight freeze might let it lie

More or less sleeting for the last few hours now in Derry, temperature has dropped a degree within last hour.  Hopefully dew points match and it starts to turn to snow.

Interesting to see how the Hirlam pans out. 12Z version has rain turning to snow in the north Meath & Louth area later in the evening. Currently raining here in Dundalk.

Still raining here. Not expecting any of the white stuff now, unless the low can pull in some colder air as it heads east into the UK.

If it is heavy enough it will lie eventually, as the snow flakes themselves will cool the ground down quickly as they splatter onto it.

Snow here in Letterkenny. Dinorebel, you're getting the best of it. Not sticking here as much out the Golf Course Road. Getting heavier now.

Slight change just within the last 15mins, 200% more red (snow) than green (sleet).
Still only in isolated areas moving ENE.

An inch fell here and yes it did lie, even though ground was very wet, but back to rain now and it's turning slushy

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,962 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

Part of the 6 Counties getting a pasting.

Lashing rain here in Virginia, wind quite gusty but nothing damaging. I would say chances for snow tonight all but gone at this stage

Snowing for 2 hours now and lying everywhere in east Donegal. Hopefully it doesn't wash away by morning...

Oops sorry hadn’t seen your pics!
That was brave in the dark! Drifts were up to 90cm in middle of road and 6’ covering the drains at the top. Was pretty wild near the top today would’ve been interesting up there last night..
