Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Post Office as a tenant - rural

What are the considerations in having a post office as a tenant in a small town situation?

    Obviously security is one element.

Any other that come to mind?

The post office's main duty these days seems to be distributing payments and personal mail drop off point.

Mail distribution and sorting is handled more centrally.

    How small is the town?

There are places that just scraped retaining a post office in the last cuts that I expect would go in the next.

Speaking as a total non-expert here but with the increased possibility of robbery it might also require specialist insurance, but perhaps An Post handle that themselves. Even so, it could have knock-on effects on the building insurance.

In small towns, the post offices are generally run by a postmaster and I suspect they; and not An Post; will be the tenant - do you know if that's the case here?

Do you have space to allow a large safe to be installed?

When the JCB gang get out is there good access for one or will they have to go through the building to get at the safe

Lets tell the truth here. Europe is going cashless. Christiane LeGuarde is talking about a Digital Euro. Blockchaining, Revolut, Bitcoin, That is all the way to go. Short term, yes there will small robberies and scallies having fits because their dole isnt in but that day is going. I do hear that An Posts parcel system is on the way up but the Social welfare, letters, finance products, mobile phones etc etc are all products with a limited shelf life. There are no more great train robberies, letters from America, no interest on deposits and dont get me started on dead ducks like prize bonds etc etc. The Post office is going to be changed soon enough. Take advantage of it while you can.
