I just bought a car and the front tires are new kumho ecsta hs51 which are grand but, the rear tires have no brand name on them. Who makes them?Pd7e4os.jpg

Can you get the code off it? First digits are manufacturer I believe

I suspect "Ditchfinder" based on there being no proper logo/name though!

Spotted the made in China on them. I'll be getting rid of these. Should I go with two more kumho ecsta hs51 or is it OK to go with a diffrent quality brand.

Kumho wear fast in my experience but the grip is good. Hankook last longer and are great in the wet or dry and aren't too expensive.

You do realise Kumho tyres are made on China too? Yes there's cheap crap made there, but so are ipads etc..

Yes, they are Zenesis Z1. I don't know what to make of them. I can't find any indenpentent reviews. Should I keep them? https://www.tyrepress.com/2014/10/european-launch-for-z-tyre-range/

I've been using both Michelin Energy Savers and Goodyear Efficientgrip performance for the past few years and find both of them to be brilliant. I used to use Bridgestone Turanzas they are good as well.

Company that makes them has Triangle amongst their brands, which would be a better known ditchfinder. Take that as a sample of quality

You can usually get a cheaper non-crud tyre for not a lot unless its a specialist car (performance or just stupid geometry wheels) and for most of those reasons you definitely don't want an obscure Chinese brand.

Went with 2 Michelin Primacy 4's in the end.

I'll go against the popular opinion and say that, presuming you're not flooring it around the place, you'll be grand.

I've had some sh/te on my cars over the years (usually came with them) and I rarely ever noticed. You would sometimes slip a bit in heavy rain on bad ones, but that's cos I'm often belting around backroads with little regard for anyone but myself.

(that's a joke, obviously - but you get the idea, you'd have to be heavy on the pedals to notice crap tyres, in my experience).

I'd go along with that ^^^ and the assumption that made in China means terrible. I put 4 Austone All Terrains on the landcruiser a few weeks ago (budget was tight and 4 were needed). So far I'm happy with them, and I'm not driving miss daisy
