Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So my sister and I have been looking to see if it’s possible for her and I to obtain citizenship through decent, her and I found we have a great grandfather that was born in Sligo Ireland in 1886 later moved to America, my father is currently obtaining birth record on him so he can apply for his citizenship, when he does apply and obtain citizenship would it be possible for her and I to do the same?.

If your father or his parent were registered as foreign born Irish, before you were born, then yes afaik.
If neither your father nor his parent was registered as Irish then you are out of luck.

The below seems incorrect- ignore it.
If your father does register as Irish now any grandchildren of his born after that can become Irish.

No. If he wasn't registered as Irish when you were born, you aren't Irish I'm afraid.

Hi and welcome to boards.ie :)

I'll move your thread to the Legal Discussion forum where it will most likely generate more responses. Best of luck with it all.
