Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all.

    Prob a silly question.

I was looking through a public family tree with same family surname to one of my own.

I clicked on a person in the tree that had a photo.

It had a tag saying DIRECT ANCESTOR.

    Would this be for Me?
Or more than likely it's a direct ANCESTOR for the person who created the tree.

    Thanks

I think those tags are something the person building the tree can attach rather than something being displayed by Ancestry for you.

Yes, I agree, and I'm not sure I see the point of them, but for people doing much wider tree projects, probably of use.

Yes I was thinking that alright.
Some people on the tree had that. Some had not.
It really should be for the persons benefit and privacy it's a little confusing when someone of the same family name sees it also.

It's the sort of useless Ancestry 'feature' that adds to confusion and encourages wholesale (and erroneous) copying of tree branches.
